Piper Companies is seeking a
Director, Data Management & Statistics to join a leading healthcare and life sciences research organization in a
hybrid setting 3 days onsite in Durham, NC . The ideal Director, Data Management & Statistics will provide leadership across statistical strategy, data management, and regulatory research activities while supporting clinical and real-world evidence studies from design through reporting.
Responsibilities of the Director, Data Management & Statistics:- Lead and mentor biostatistics and data management team members.
- Provide statistical input for study protocols, including study design, sample size calculations, and analysis methods.
- Develop and oversee statistical analysis plans (SAPs).
- Support database design to ensure data quality and meet study objectives.
- Select and apply appropriate statistical methods for clinical and observational research.
- Analyze and interpret clinical, claims, and electronic health record (EHR) data.
- Prepare and present study results to clients, investigators, leadership, and regulatory agencies.
- Support regulatory submissions, including NDA and other health authority filings.
- Serve as a statistical subject matter expert for study design and data interpretation.
- Collaborate with epidemiologists, programmers, and business leaders on research initiatives.
- Help define requirements for new data assets, databases, and analytical solutions.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications of the Director, Data Management & Statistics:- 8+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or healthcare research industry.
- 5+ years of leadership or people management experience.
- Strong background in clinical trial statistics and data analysis.
- Experience leading research projects from study design through publication.
- Experience conducting pharmacoepidemiology or real-world evidence (RWE) studies.
- Experience working with claims, EHR, or other healthcare databases.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and statistical methodologies used in clinical research.
- Hands-on experience with statistical programming tools such as SAS, R, or Python.
- PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field.
Compensation for the Director, Data Management & Statistics includes:- Salary range: $125,000 - $165,000 annually depending on experience
