Job DescriptionWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The role is for Global Data Center engineering lead managing a high performing team of senior engineers responsible for all the networking technology running in the RBC's global data centers including our cloud presence in Azure and AWS.
We are in 32 countries with a global network spanning Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Asia PAC and Europe. We own, manage and operate a very large and complex interconnected network from the fiber in the ground to every technology involved in delivering a service to our clients. We also manage two complex content delivery networks, Akamai and Cloudflare that serves RBC's 13 million banking customers.
Must be familiar with AI architectural network designs, complex design architecture between applications and infrastructure, majority of the network routing protocols, complex security design principles including PAN and Checkpoint firewalls, broad cloud networking constructs i.e. global availability zones and multi-cloud options.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?You will manage engineering and certification for the following technologies.
- Core data center technologies - Cisco Nexus including ACI and Arista
- DNS - Infoblox
- Load balancing - F5
- Cloud networking - Azure and AWS
- CDN - Akamai and Cloudflare
You will also need to
- Manage the implementation of multiple concurrent initiatives of varying complexity in a time efficient manner. Monitor and control activities according to plan.
- Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks. Analyze, mitigate and escalate where appropriate
- Develop and execute on end to end change management plans and plan and execute all communication related to these.
- Collaborate and contribute on cross-functional enterprise initiatives and manage the effective implementation of assigned deliverables.
- Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.
- Contribute to ongoing administrative program activities as required.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?Must have: - Undergraduate degree coupled with change management experience in complex programs with high frequency of requests and multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
- Strong organizational, project management and time management capabilities.
- A strong understanding of technology and/or financial services industry.
- Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
