Role Summary
Zions Bancorporation is seeking a Director of Capital Policy to join our Strategic Finance team. This individual will be responsible for the core policies that govern the company's capital, ensuring that all asset management activities comply with evolving regulatory standards while proactively driving capital allocation strategies. The Director will work with Treasury, Strategic Finance and other stakeholders to bridge regulatory requirements and strategic execution with a focus on improving shareholder value and risk adjusted returns.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic oversight, creation, and ongoing management of the company's capital policies, frameworks, and related initiatives.
Establish, update, and maintain comprehensive policy guidelines governing the company's capital. Create and maintain capital policies for critical portfolios including investments, loans, deposits and asset management.
Ensure all capital management activities align with changing financial regulations (including OCC, Federal Reserve, and FDIC expectations).
Formulate and manage capital allocation methodologies across the company's customer segments and business lines (Consumer, Small Business, Commercial, Wealth Management, Capital Markets).
Coordinate with the Director of Corporate Development & Strategic Finance to improve current performance management frameworks leveraging Shareholder Value Added (SVA) metrics.
Lead initiatives to optimize the balance sheet and reported Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA), allowing for improved efficiency in the deployment of capital the company's base capital.
Partner with the company's modeling teams to oversee capital planning, forecasting, and scenario modeling under baseline and adverse conditions.
Direct, mentor, and guide multi-disciplinary teams responsible for implementing enterprise-wide capital projects, and policy enhancements.
Deliver quarterly reporting, strategic evaluations, and presentations on capital positions, project progress, and optimization outcomes to Senior Executive Leadership. Prepare capital adequacy and dividend/share repurchase request for the Board.
Partner with Treasury, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), business segment executives, and Strategic Finance to ensure capital policy and risk appetite are integrated into the annual budgeting and multi-year strategic planning processes.
Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for regulatory examiners, Internal Audit, and model risk validation teams regarding capital policy, and capital adequacy controls.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
