Standard Real Estate Investments (“Standard”) is a real estate investment management firm that makes direct investments in existing property and invests joint venture equity in new projects with developers. The firm focuses primarily on multifamily and industrial assets across major U.S. markets, with offices in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, CA. Position Overview:

The Director of Asset Management will be responsible for overseeing the financial and operational performance of Standard’s multifamily and select industrial investments. This individual will manage third-party property management firms, lead execution of asset-level business plans, and ensure the firm’s investment objectives are achieved. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience managing multifamily assets, with additional exposure to industrial operations considered a plus.

This is a dynamic, growth-oriented role within a lean and highly engaged team. The Asset Manager will collaborate across functions, with opportunities to contribute to acquisitions underwriting, joint venture oversight, refinancing, and investor reporting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance of multifamily and industrial assets within Standard’s portfolio, ensuring business plan execution, leasing performance, and NOI growth.
  • Manage third-party property management and leasing teams, providing leadership, direction, and accountability.
  • Develop, update, and execute asset-level business plans including capital improvement, repositioning, and refinancing strategies.
  • Review monthly financials, budgets, and variance reports; drive corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead quarterly asset reviews, providing detailed financial analysis, market context, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with acquisitions team on new investments by contributing asset management insights into underwriting and due diligence.
  • Interface directly with joint venture partners, lenders, and investors, maintaining clear communication and professional representation of the firm.
  • Support disposition processes including broker selection, valuation analysis, and closing execution.
  • Ensure compliance with loan covenants and investor reporting requirements.
  • Conduct periodic property inspections and maintain close contact with on-site teams.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Achievement of asset-level business plan objectives (NOI, occupancy, expense management).
  • Timeliness and accuracy of investor reporting and internal asset reviews.
  • Effectiveness of third-party management oversight and vendor performance.
  • Execution of capital improvements and leasing initiatives within budget and timeline.
  • Contribution to portfolio valuation growth and successful refinancing/dispositions.
  • Internal collaboration and proactive communication with senior management and partners.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, or related field required; advanced degree preferred (MBA or Master’s in Real Estate).
  • Minimum of 6–10 years of total professional experience, with 5+ years of direct asset management experience in multifamily.
  • Experience with industrial assets preferred but not required.
  • Proven success in managing third-party property managers and executing value-add business plans.
  • Strong financial acumen and proficiency in Yardi and Excel financial modeling; Argus proficiency is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently within a collaborative, flat organizational environment.
  • Willingness to travel to assets and between Standard’s offices as needed.
