Overview

On a typical day, the Director, Agentic Software Engineering collaborates to define architecture with Principal Architects and product requirements from Product and business stakeholders, and leads the design and development of production-grade systems that integrate Generative AI, agentic workflows, and RAG-based retrieval into CDG’s platforms. You will review progress with Senior Managers and Principal Engineers across the Agentic Software Engineering organization, works hands-on across full-stack engineering, cloud platforms, and modern AI architectures to guide execution, and represents engineering in front of senior leadership on delivery, risk, and investment tradeoffs. You will also partner with Technology and Architecture to adopt defined platform, architecture, and security standards within the team's day-to-day tooling and delivery execution.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Take defined architecture and product requirements as inputs, leading the design and development of production-grade systems that integrate Generative AI, agentic workflows, and RAG-based retrieval across CDG’s software platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Senior Managers, Managers, and Principal Engineers driving agentic software initiatives from design through delivery.
  • Establish MLOps/LLMOps practices for model deployment and monitoring, and implement engineering workflows against platform standards defined by Technology and Architecture (CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerization) to accelerate delivery without compromising reliability.
  • Serve as the primary engineering point of contact with executive stakeholders, presenting delivery progress, technical risk, and investment recommendations.
  • Represent the Agentic Software Engineering function in executive forums and strategic planning sessions, and partner with Technology and Architecture on AI/ML tooling and vendor evaluations to ensure selected tools support delivery against product requirements.

What You Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's preferred).
  • Work Experience: 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years in architecture or senior technical leadership roles, with a track record leading distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
  • Deep hands-on expertise across full-stack development and at least one major cloud platform (GCP, Azure, or AWS), with proven experience leading the design and development of production Generative AI solutions from defined architecture and requirements, including RAG systems, multi-agent workflows, and LLM integration.
  • Proven track record delivering enterprise-grade systems that serve large user bases with measurable performance outcomes, and jointly owning responsible AI governance and content safety controls (evaluation pipelines, safety testing) with Technology and Architecture across design, development, and operation.
  • Executive-level communication skills, with experience partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Location: This position must be based in Irvine, CA and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $204,800 to $270,000 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
