Full Job Description
Job Title: Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated MLSD Algorithm Engineer to develop a MATLAB or PYTHON program to optimize analog circuits for high-speed communication systems. The successful candidate will design, implement, and optimize Maximum Likelihood Sequence Detection (MLSD) algorithms for PAM4 receivers used in optical and electrical interconnects operating at 200G, 400G and beyond.
We are primarily targeting a senior-level engineer, but we will also consider highly motivated entry-level candidates.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understand what DSP companies are implementing when it comes to FFE, DFE and MLSD equalization.
  • Predict bit error ratio (BER) of measured or simulated data using FFE, DFE and MLSD equalization.
  • Find figure of merits for analog design to speed up the development of analog circuits.
  • Create and simulate mathematical algorithms for improving bit error rate by using filtering, and advance equalization techniques e.g. CTLE, FFE, DFE and MLSD using tools like MATLAB or Python.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze distortion, interference, or bandwidth issues to improve system performance.
  • Work alongside analog designers, hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to guide them and solicit feedback from them for best-in-class system level performance.

Key Qualifications, Competencies & Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • 10+ years' experience in an engineering related field preferred.
  • Solid foundation in digital communications, filter design, convolution, and linear algebra.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, and/or MATLAB.
  • Strong proficiency in Viterbi decoder implementation, FFE Adaptation algorithms, channel estimation, and PAM4 signaling.
  • Able to work in and foster a teamwork environment with a demonstrated ability to coordinate activities across multiple functional areas.
  • Must be an effective communicator with the ability to interface at all levels within the organization, possessing a thorough command of the English language, written as well as verbal.

The Salary Range for this position is $95,000-$135,000 annual. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates' experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This position may be eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM's discretion, subject to individual and company performance.

Benefits: This position offers a comprehensive benefits package including but not limited to:
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Employer-sponsored 401(k) plan.
  • Paid time off.
  • Professional development opportunities.
