About the rolePugpig works with some of the world's leading media brands to launch apps built on our established digital publishing platform.
We're growing our US team and looking for two Digital Project Managers to join us in New York: someone with a couple of years' experience delivering digital projects, along with a more established PM who can independently lead complex customer implementations.
These are hands-on, customer-facing roles. You'll be the day-to-day delivery partner for our customers, understanding their goals and challenges, translating them into practical plans and bringing together the right people at Pugpig, including developers, designers, product specialists and Customer Success. You'll move between strategic customer conversations and detailed technical delivery discussions, managing expectations and ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and on budget.
Both roles offer genuine ownership and influence, with the opportunity to help shape how we deliver projects as our US business grows.
What you will doLead customer delivery
- Own the end-to-end delivery of digital projects, from discovery and scoping through to launch and handover.
- Build trusted relationships with customers, understand their goals, priorities and pain points, and translate these into clear delivery plans.
- Keep customers informed and confident, managing expectations when priorities, timelines or scope change.
- Identify potential issues early, explain options and work with customers and internal teams to find practical solutions.
Coordinate internal delivery
- Identify and bring together the right people across Pugpig, including developers, designers, product specialists and Customer Success, to answer questions, solve problems and make decisions.
- Translate customer needs into clear internal actions, facilitate effective communication between customer and technical teams, and ensure ownership is understood.
- Create clarity when information is incomplete, priorities compete or decisions are needed.
Manage projects effectively
- Define and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets and delivery documentation.
- Run structured kick-offs, status meetings, workshops and retrospectives, ensuring clear decisions, owners and next steps.
- Manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, and protect project scope by documenting changes and their impact on time, cost and quality.
- Track progress honestly, maintain project tools, forecast delivery costs, monitor project burn and identify the cost of delay when trade-offs are required.
- Support project resourcing, timesheeting, invoicing and budget tracking.
Improve how we work
- Identify opportunities to improve our delivery processes and customer experience, challenging existing ways of working constructively and suggesting practical solutions.
- Use AI and other tools to improve planning, documentation, communication and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the wider Professional Services team and help us scale our approach as the business grows.
About youYou're a customer-focused project or delivery professional who enjoys understanding what customers are trying to achieve and making things happen. You bring structure without unnecessary bureaucracy, communicate clearly and take ownership, even when priorities change or information is incomplete.
We're recruiting at two levels. For the Digital Project Manager position, we're looking for someone with around two years' relevant experience who can manage customer-facing digital projects with guidance and support as they develop.
For the Experienced Digital Project Manager position, we're looking for someone who can independently lead complex digital implementations, navigate challenging customer relationships, anticipate delivery and commercial risks, and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.
You'll probably have worked in one or more of the following environments:
- A digital agency delivering websites, mobile apps or other digital products.
- A SaaS or technology company delivering customer implementations.
- A product, platform or professional services team working directly with clients.
- A consultancy, systems integrator or digital transformation business.
- An in-house digital team with significant responsibility for external partners or customers.
You don't need publishing experience, but you should be genuinely interested in digital products, technology and how customers use them.
Essential experience and qualities
- At least two years' experience in project management, digital delivery, client services or a similar role.
- Experience delivering digital, technology or software projects for external customers or clients.
- Strong customer relationship skills, with the confidence to lead conversations, build trust and understand customer goals and friction points, rather than simply manage a task list.
- Experience managing timelines, scope, risks, dependencies and budgets, with a proactive approach to solving problems and taking ownership of delivery outcomes.
- Confidence working with developers and other technical specialists, with sufficient technical understanding to follow discussions, identify dependencies and translate technical considerations into customer-facing decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bring the right people together and create clarity.
- A practical, organised approach and the ability to thrive in a small, growing business where roles are broad and processes are still evolving.
- Curiosity about technology, a willingness to learn new tools and concepts, and an active, practical interest in using AI to work more effectively.
Helpful experience
- Experience in any of the following areas would be useful, but none is essential:
- Mobile apps, app publishing, websites or other digital products.
- WordPress or another content management system.
- UX, design or discovery processes.
- Jira or similar project management tools.
- Source control and software release processes across development, staging and production.
- Analytics, advertising technology or digital marketing tools, such as GA, GTM or GAM.
- Media, publishing, membership or subscription businesses.
This role is likely to suit you if:
- You enjoy building relationships with customers, understanding their challenges and helping them achieve great outcomes.
- You like getting stuck into problems, bringing the right people together and finding practical solutions.
- You're comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and working in a small, growing team.
- You enjoy variety, from planning and managing projects to getting into the detail of technical delivery.
- You bring energy, clarity and calm when things get complicated.
This role is less likely to suit you if:
- Your experience is primarily in internal IT operations, infrastructure or enterprise change programmes, rather than delivering digital products or software implementations for external customers.
- Your experience has mainly involved managing internal stakeholders, or you prefer working within a large PMO with established processes and clearly separated responsibilities.
- You prefer reporting on delivery rather than actively driving it forward, or are uncomfortable having commercially sensitive or difficult conversations with customers.
