OverviewJob SummaryThe Developer Experience Lead is a highly experienced Software Engineer who, under minimal supervision, provides technical leadership for developer experience, productivity, and engineering enablement across the R&D Software Engineering organization. The role owns the architecture and implementation of shared capabilities that improve how engineers develop, build, test, release, and operate software, using software engineering, DevOps, automation, cloud, AI, and other technologies as appropriate.
Working strategically and hands-on, the role leads high-complexity, cross-team initiatives; develops and maintains production-quality tools, integrations, reusable workflows, and supporting technical documentation; and establishes standards and controls for their reliable use in a regulated environment. The role is accountable for measurable improvements in developer workflow efficiency, consistency, quality, and self-service adoption at organizational scale.
ResponsibilitiesKey Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain the developer experience technical roadmap and target architecture, driving improvements in developer productivity, workflow consistency, and engineering effectiveness.
- Design and deliver developer experience platforms, workflows, automations, integrations, and self-service capabilities that reduce friction and improve software delivery efficiency. Own their reliability and continuous improvement, ensuring they remain stable, supportable, secure, and fit for purpose.
- Establish and maintain standard development workflows, reference implementations, engineering controls, and adoption guidance that improve consistency while satisfying applicable quality, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the evaluation, rollout, and adoption of modern technologies and methods that improve developer productivity, engineering effectiveness, and organizational capability.
- Define and maintain developer experience metrics and feedback mechanisms that identify friction, guide priorities, and demonstrate the value of delivered improvements.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture, design, code, test, and implementation reviews; resolve complex engineering problems and promote sound, reusable practices.
- Lead complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from definition through delivery, managing technical direction, dependencies, risks, and outcomes.
- Mentor engineers and champion a culture of self-service, continuous improvement, experimentation, and shared learning across the software engineering organization.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
