Summary:

The Senior Developer builds and delivers core platform services in a cloud-native AWS environment. Youwill implement complex features, uphold code quality, mentor developers, and make effective use of AI-assisted development tooling across the SDLC.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and possess current hands-on software development experience with cloud-native development on AWS, modern languages and frameworks, CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding, and AI-assisted development tools. Required qualifications include 7+ years of software development experience; strong hands-on experience with cloud-native development on AWS; proficiency with modern languages/frameworks and CI/CD; and experience with automated testing and secure coding. The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen; dual citizenship is not permitted, and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance. Must be willing to work a HYBRID schedule (1-2 days) in Reston, VA and client locations in the Washington, D.C. area as required.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Design and implement complex, cloud-native features and services on AWS.
  • Uphold code quality through reviews, testing, and best practices.
  • Mentor developers and contribute to technical decisions.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated tests.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools, such as Amazon Q Developer across the SDLC.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize and harden production services.
  • Collaborate with architects and BAs to refine and deliver stories.
  • Participate in requirements-gathering sessions to align technical inputs with business needs.
  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for complex solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders to meet project goals.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of software development experience.
  • Professional Java experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with cloud-native development on AWS.
  • Proficiency with modern languages/frameworks and CI/CD.
  • Experience with automated testing and secure coding.
  • Strong hands-on development experience with modern cloud-native stacks.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
