This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.
As the Deputy Director of GS2 Gen 1.X Upgrades for New Glenn, you will serve as the senior programmatic lead and individual contributor (IC) for the team, working in close partnership with the Director to drive execution across the full scope of design engineering, qualification and verification, test, and rate production. Your primary focus will be on programmatic health and ensuring that work is completed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with New Glenn program priorities.
In this role, you connect technical teams with program leadership. You translate strategy into executable plans, track performance, and resolve issues before they become problems. You will act as a trusted advisor and force multiplier for the Director by owning programmatic processes, tools, and coordination efforts. These efforts help the team run optimally.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience in Engineering or a relevant technical field
- 12+ years of engineering or technical program management experience
- Demonstrated experience as a senior individual contributor driving programmatic execution in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
- Hands-on experience with project and performance management, integrated master scheduling, and budget management
- Strong ability to synthesize complex technical and programmatic information and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization
- Proven track record of identifying risks, developing mitigation strategies, and driving issue resolution
- Ability to operate, make decisions, and drive forward progress in complex and ambiguous environments
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
Desired:
- Advanced degree or an equivalent background in Engineering or Aerospace
- Master of Business Administration or MS in Engineering Management, or comparable professional experience
- Direct experience with launch vehicle or space system integration and testing
- Experience leveraging AI to drive efficiencies within the team, specifically around scope and project management
- Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle (design, analysis, manufacturing, integration, test, new product introduction, and recurring production)
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Experience with scheduling and project management tools (such as Primavera P6, MS Project), and data management software (Confluence, Jira, Tableau, SQL)
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Black Belt, and/or Lean Manufacturing Certifications
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $169,624.00 - $237,473.25
