Job Description
Deputy Combat Systems Officer (DCSO) for CVN 78 Class CVNs.
1. Review carrier C5I alterations and ensure proper support is provided. Review requirements for C5I equipment improvement, test evaluation and new developments.
2. Verify the accuracy of assigned carriers NDE maturity data.
3. Assist in calculating AFOM for proposed alterations when necessary. Assist in development of SCD for proposed carrier C5I TYCOM alterations and provide to CSO.
4. Duties, Responsibilities, and Authority:
a. Oversee accomplishment of carrier C5I alterations in support of assigned Combat Systems Maintenance Coordinator (CSMC) Review scheduling of assigned aircraft carrier C5I alterations via CSMCs and MPMs, after C5I modernization has been approved by the respective CFFC. Make recommendations to CSO on Non-Standard Installation or TCD Waiver Requests for assigned carriers.
b. Coordinate with SYSCOMs, PEOs, Atlantic Fleet DGSIT Program Managers, and field activities to resolve identified systems issues. Coordinate with SYSCOMs and Alteration Installation team (AIT) activities for installation, support, integrated logistic support (ILS) and maintenance training issues. Coordinate carrier C5I fleet installations with RMMCO.
c. Provide C5I Financial Management Plan and budget for assigned carriers. Provide annual spend plans for follow-on fiscal year to support planned C5I repairs, alterations and modifications. Provide financial planning, budgeting, tracking and auditing for current year execution of C5I repairs, alterations and modifications in accordance with approved plans.
d. Monitor progress of C5I CASREP support and provide metrics, reports, briefings and presentations for assigned carriers.
e. Oversee the implementation and execution of carrier C5I test and repair capabilities. Monitor the DS program to ensure all options have been exercised and that Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFFM) guidance is being followed.
f. Provide draft standard naval messages, briefs, reports, databases and spreadsheets on assigned carrier C5ISR issues.
g. Attend meetings, conferences and working groups when assigned.
Job Requirements
BS/BA degree preferred or 10 years equivalent work experience onboard Aircraft Carriers. Must know the Navy Modernization Plan and understand work integration. Preferred candidate would be a Combat Systems Officer, LDO/CWO or senior military enlisted with experience onboard a CVN. Must know Microsoft office products.
