Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Department Administrator Supervisor for the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in the School of Engineering (SoE). The Department Administrator-Supervisor provides overall administrative, business management, supervision, and assessment of performance of the daily operations of the department. This position is the principal departmental liaison for SoE facilities, personnel, business, and budgetary matters with the SoE Dean's Office and other university business offices. This individual serves as point of contact for external stakeholders at the direction of the department chair. This position has a dual reporting line to both the department chair and to the Dean's Business Office.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Supervises all administrative operations and processes for the academic department.
- Coordinates and tracks appointment and reappointment letters for department personnel, including faculty, staff, and students.
- Interprets and implements university, school, and department policies and practices.
- Supervises department administrative staff and works closely with the department chair, faculty and dean's office on programs that encourage and support faculty and student activity.
- Manages business and budgetary aspects of department operations.
- Ensures expenditures are consistent with the departmental operating budget.
- Develops and monitors revenue and spending plans for the academic department.
- Monitors department and faculty resources that include unrestricted funds as well as gift and endowment funding and may include research funding.
- Assists with fiscal management of the department's core facilities.
- Prepares budgetary and business reports and provides other information for the SoE Grants Office, as requested.
- Works closely with the SoE Grants Office to monitor post-award activity on activities such as appointments and effort reporting, when necessary.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business and administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of general accounting principles and practices, office administration, work organization, coordination, and facilitation.
- A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in a financial/accounting/business function and managerial/supervisory experience.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Excellent communication skills.
- Computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications - Masters degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related discipline. Relevant engineering knowledge or experience.
Equipment Utilized - Microsoft Office, database and statistical applications, Marketplace, Cornerstone, Oracle, and Rutgers applications, such as HCM, ARS, and ROCs, among others.
Physical Demands and Work Environment - Environment Office environment with moderate office noise.
