Defense Deputy Program Manager

Program Summary

This position is for a full-time production deputy program manager in the defense/aerospace manufacturing sector, with primary responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day production operations of several defense manufacturing sub-programs at a Tier 1 supplier.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes program activities: acquisition program planning, proposal pricing, financial management, cost analysis, management techniques, and documentation requirements.

  • Compiles and reviews budgets against actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated revenue, and other data sources to control budgets and provide proper financial decisions.

  • Aids in developing and implementing strategies to achieve program objectives safely and within agreed time, cost, technical, quality, and other performance criteria.

  • Participates in the control of costs and schedules on contracts requiring validated cost schedule control system. Performs analyses and prepares reports to ensure that contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon parameters and government cost control guidelines.

  • Ensures adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government.

  • Develop plans including budgets and schedules to meet contractual/project requirements for several major portions of a program.

  • Has expertise in DOD, Agency, and/or industry standards and engineering requirements, advises colleagues on interpretation of standards within the context of Group’s contract objectives.

  • Impacts the direction and resource allocation for program, project or services; works within general Divisional/Group policies and industry guidelines.

  • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections, and persuades others, often at senior levels, to influence decisions.

  • Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory/ compliance issues; recommends process, product or service improvements.

  • May conduct operational effectiveness reviews to ensure functional or project systems are applied as designed, and function satisfactorily.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5-7 Years of Program Management Experience

  • 5+ Years of Program Management Experience in Defense/Aerospace Manufacturing

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
