The Opportunity

DAT is looking for a Deal Desk & Commercial Services Manager to join our Revenue Operations team in Portland, OR. The Deal Desk & Commercial Services Manager owns deal execution, pricing governance, and contract lifecycle management for DAT's commercial organization end to end. This is a net-new seat: DAT's current structure has no single owner for deal approval, discount governance, or contract execution, and that gap shows up today as inconsistent, ad hoc handling of pricing exceptions across segments, and as a contracting process that still runs through a standalone DocuSign step disconnected from Salesforce (SFDC) and the NetSuite ERP.

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Revenue Operations, this role stands up the Commercial Desk as a single point of ownership for Broker, Carrier, and Shipper deal flow; redesigns the Self Sign-Up (SSU) and Enterprise (ENT) contract processes separately given their different deal complexity; and builds the Delegation of Authority (DOA) structure that lets the desk close standard deals on its own while routing exceptions up automatically.

What You'll Do

Deal Desk Leadership & Execution
  • Own end-to-end deal approval for Broker, Carrier, and Shipper segments: pricing, product configuration, and business terms during the sales cycle.
  • Establish and enforce SLA-based turnaround times for deal approvals; track and report on deal desk metrics (turnaround time, request volume, exception rate, compliance rate).
  • Build and maintain the Delegation of Authority (DOA) framework so standard deals close without escalation, and exceptions route automatically to the right approver.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for deal-related questions, escalations, and disputes, resolving them promptly and consistently across segments.

Contract Lifecycle Management
  • Own replacement of the current standalone DocuSign contracting process, integrating contract execution directly into SFDC and the NetSuite ERP so signed deals flow into billing and revenue recognition without manual re-entry.
  • Redesign the SSU and ENT contract processes separately to reflect their different deal complexity, rather than forcing both through one workflow.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of every deal approval and contract action to support compliance and future audits.
  • Partner with Legal and Finance to close the contract lifecycle management (CLM) gap that currently affects customer retention: standardize renewal, amendment, and offboarding workflows so contract terms and lifecycle events are tracked systematically after signature.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Analysis
  • Act as the connective tissue between Sales, Finance, Legal, and Product on deal structuring, pricing exceptions, and contract terms.
  • Investigate root causes when a signed account underperforms against its deal terms, and build corrective action plans with the account team.
  • Provide deal performance and pricing analytics to Revenue Operations leadership, including trends, risk, and process-efficiency recommendations.
  • Contribute to and maintain SOPs for deal approval and pricing governance as the desk scales.

The Skills and Experience You'll Bring

Must-Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in deal desk, pricing strategy, revenue operations, or contract management, including direct ownership of deal approval and pricing governance processes.
  • Direct experience managing or building a Delegation of Authority (DOA) or deal-approval framework.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce (SFDC) and CPQ tools; comfort operating inside a CRM-driven deal-approval workflow.
  • Experience partnering with Legal and Finance on contract structuring, and familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools and processes.
  • Strong financial acumen: able to read a deal's pricing and margin impact and make a fast, defensible call.
  • Excellent stakeholder management: able to hold a firm line on pricing and contract standards while keeping sales relationships productive.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in freight, logistics, or another two-sided marketplace or data business.
  • Experience standing up a Deal Desk or Commercial Desk function from scratch, not just operating an existing one.
  • Exposure to usage- or consumption-based pricing models.
  • Prior people-management experience; this seat is scoped to grow direct reports as deal volume scales.

For Oregon-based candidates, in compliance with Oregon's Pay Equity and Transparency Act (effective January 2024), the salary range for this role is $120,000 - $170,000. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
