Our client's Enterprise Data Retention and Governance team is hiring a mid-level specialist to put data governance into practice across multiple workstreams. You will translate retention requirements into working controls on the backend platforms that hold enterprise records, with a focus on legal and finance records. This is a hands-on role that sits between Legal, Finance, IT and the business, and is responsible for seeing retention decisions carried out, not only documented.

Work with Legal to apply retention schedules, legal holds and defensible disposition to legal records
Work with Finance to apply retention requirements to financial records, including audit, tax and regulatory obligations
Configure, maintain and monitor retention policies, labels and lifecycle rules on backend platforms and repositories
Execute retention actions across business areas, including disposition, archiving and hold management, and keep an auditable record of each
Map records and data sources to retention categories and help resolve gaps and conflicts between systems
Partner with IT, security and application owners to build retention requirements into platform changes and migrations
Track workstream status, report on policy compliance, and escalate risks to team leadership
Maintain procedures, runbooks and training materials, and support audits and internal reviews
Required Skills and Experience
3 to 5 years of experience in records management, data governance, information governance or a related field
Working knowledge of records retention schedules, legal holds and defensible disposition
Experience supporting legal and/or finance records, including audit and regulatory retention requirements
Hands-on experience configuring retention or governance tooling on enterprise platforms, such as Microsoft Purview or a comparable records management or archiving system
Familiarity with backend platforms and data stores, including how data is created, stored, moved and deleted
Ability to run several workstreams at once and work across Legal, Finance, IT and business teams
Strong documentation, attention to detail and the ability to produce audit-ready evidence
Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as CRM, IGP, CIP or ARMA-aligned credentials
Scripting or automation experience, such as PowerShell or Python, to support policy deployment and reporting
Experience with eDiscovery and legal hold platforms
Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft 365, ERP or document management systems as sources of records
Background in a regulated or large enterprise environment, such as healthcare, higher education or financial services
Familiarity with privacy and data protection requirements that affect retention and deletion
Bachelor's degree in information science, business, law, IT or a related field, or equivalent experience
