Job DescriptionAmerican Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc. seeks Data Engineers to work with product teams to understand business data requirements, identify data needs and data sources to create data architecture, and support changes and implementation.
ResponsibilitiesDocument data requirements and data stories, and maintain data models to ensure seamless integration into existing data architectures. Create and maintain information about stored data and understand database requirements and translate those requirements into physical database design. Build and enhance database design and infrastructure that supports the business portfolio. Perform database design review, support database testing, and provide production environment support for database systems and processes. Design database features for ongoing sprints and monitor database requirements based on industry trends, new technologies, known defects, and issues.
QualificationsPosition requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM field, followed by 5 years of progressively responsible experience with database administration. Experience must also include 1 year of experience with each of the following: developing scripts for automating routine tasks; designing algorithms and data flowcharts; performing User Acceptance Testing (UAT); using data modeling and Integrated Development Environment (IDE) tools, including Eclipse and IntelliJ; using issue management tools, including Jira and Backlog; using source control management tools, including GIT; API REST, Apache Airflow, Apache Flink, Big Data, data structures, Elasticsearch, ETL, Hive, Jenkins, JSON, Kafka, Kibana, Linux, MemSQL, NoSQL databases, performance tuning, Python, RDBMS, Spark, shell scripting, and Vert.x-based microservices development. Telecommuting is available up to 2 days per week.
