Full Job Description
Impact of the Role

This architect ensures that customer needs directly shape the evolution of mechanical and cooling technologies, enabling reliable, efficient, and scalable data-center environments. The role bridges the gap between customer requirements and product innovation, ensuring that cooling infrastructure and hardware designs work together seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

The Data Center Infrastructure Mechanical Architect serves as a technical leader responsible for designing, validating, and optimizing mechanical systems that support high-density compute environments. This role is uniquely customer-facing and works closely with internal product development teams to influence both existing and next-generation cooling solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in liquid-cooling technologies-including dry coolers, evaporative coolers, cooling skids, and hydronic infrastructure-and excels at translating customer needs into scalable, reliable mechanical architectures.

Customer Engagement & Solution Architecture
  • Act as the primary mechanical engineering interface for customers, gathering requirements, understanding deployment constraints, and translating needs into actionable design specifications
  • Lead technical discussions with end users, integrators, and partners to ensure mechanical designs align with operational expectations and long-term scalability
  • Provide expert guidance on liquid-cooling strategies, system tradeoffs, and deployment best practices

Cross-Functional Collaboration with Product Development
  • Partner closely with hardware, electrical, controls, and product engineering teams to influence the design of new cooling products and enhancements to existing offerings
  • Contribute mechanical expertise to product roadmaps, design reviews, and prototype evaluations
  • Ensure new product designs integrate seamlessly with facility-level cooling infrastructure and meet customer performance requirements

Mechanical System Design & Integration
  • Architect end-to-end liquid-cooling systems, including dry coolers, evaporative coolers, cooling towers, skids, pumps, heat exchangers, filtration systems, and hydronic distribution
  • Develop detailed mechanical layouts, piping schematics, and system interfaces for both new builds and retrofits
  • Validate system performance through modeling, simulation, and on-site testing

Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Support
  • Support customers and field teams during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of liquid-cooling systems
  • Create and maintain documentation including design standards, sequence-of-operations, commissioning plans, and integration guides
  • Evaluate site conditions, climate considerations, and operational constraints to ensure optimal cooling performance

Performance, Reliability & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze system data to optimize efficiency, reliability, and water/power usage.
  • Identify opportunities for mechanical improvements in both facility infrastructure and product designs
  • Drive root-cause analysis for mechanical issues and collaborate with development teams to implement corrective actions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data-center mechanical design, mission-critical facilities, or advanced cooling systems
  • Hands-on experience with dry coolers, evaporative coolers, cooling skids, hydronic systems, and liquid-cooling infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, pump curves, and fluid dynamics
  • Experience collaborating with product development or hardware engineering teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage directly with customers and translate technical concepts clearly

Pay Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $210,000.00 /Yr.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting AI/ML, HPC, or other high-density compute environments
  • Familiarity with immersion cooling, direct-to-chip cooling, or rear-door heat exchangers
  • Knowledge of water treatment, filtration, and corrosion-control strategies.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent experience
