Position Summary

The D&C HSE Specialist serves as the on-site safety expert, partnering with company and contractor leadership to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role is responsible for implementing safety programs, conducting hazard assessments, supporting regulatory compliance, investigating incidents, and promoting continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience supporting oil and gas drilling and completions operations and a strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.

Who Will Be Successful in This Role?

The ideal candidate has hands-on HSE experience in oil and gas drilling and completions environments, understands regulatory compliance requirements, and has a proven track record of improving safety performance through leadership, coaching, and risk management.

This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of HSE experience supporting oil & gas drilling and completions operations. Candidates without direct oil & gas safety experience, OSHA knowledge, and incident investigation experience may not be considered.

Schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

  • Minimum 3-5 years of HSE experience supporting oil & gas drilling and completions operations
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards
  • Experience conducting:
    • Hazard and risk assessments
    • Safety audits and inspections
    • Incident investigations and root cause analysis
    • Regulatory compliance activities
  • Ability to develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based environment


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
  • ASP (Associate Safety Professional)
  • OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologist)
  • Previous experience supporting multiple contractors and subcontractors
  • West Virginia residency or local project experience


Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership
  • Implement and maintain project-specific health, safety, and environmental programs
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and safe work practices across all site activities
  • Provide technical guidance on safety regulations, company standards, and industry best practices

Risk Assessment & Compliance
  • Conduct hazard assessments, job site inspections, and safety audits
  • Identify risks and develop corrective actions to reduce incidents and improve performance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety standards
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with site safety expectations

Incident Investigation & Reporting
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses
  • Develop actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence
  • Prepare reports and documentation for management and customers
  • Track safety metrics and support continuous improvement efforts

Site Support & Communication
  • Partner with company, contractor, and customer leadership teams to address safety concerns
  • Deliver safety meetings, presentations, and training as needed
  • Communicate safety requirements and expectations to all personnel on site
  • Support development and enhancement of safety management systems

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve HSE performance
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and safety initiatives
  • Drive measurable improvements in workplace safety and regulatory compliance
