This role ensures Ford Energy's products and quality processes satisfy the accreditation, due-diligence, and 'bankability' expectations of customers, project financiers, insurers, and independent engineers involved in large-scale energy storage deployments. Bankability is a critical commercial enabler for BESS projects - without it, projects cannot secure financing or insurance. This engineer serves as the technical face of Ford Energy Quality to the external commercial ecosystem, translating internal quality rigor into confidence-inspiring documentation and audit performance.
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll do...
- Bankability & Financial Due Diligence Support
- Manage technical bankability reviews requested by project financiers, lenders, and independent engineers (IEs) evaluating BESS project risk.
- Prepare and maintain a standardized 'bankability package' of technical documentation (design basis, certification status, warranty terms, quality process summaries) for rapid response to financier requests.
- Support responses to insurer technical questionnaires related to product safety, reliability, and failure history.
- Customer & Third-Party Audit Management
- Coordinate and host customer, financier, and/or third-party quality system audits of engineering, manufacturing, and quality processes.
- Prepare audit-ready documentation and coordinate cross-functional teams (manufacturing, engineering, quality) ahead of scheduled audits.
- Track audit findings, drive corrective action plans, and report closure status to both customers and internal leadership.
QualificationsYou'll have...
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience supporting project finance, insurance, or bankability technical reviews in energy or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong customer-facing communication and audit management skills.

- Direct experience with stationary BESS bankability reviews or independent engineer (IE) assessments.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management system accreditation frameworks.
- Experience presenting technical risk topics to non-technical financial stakeholders.

- Presentation tools (PowerPoint) for executive-level readouts
- Typical Career Path
- Progression toward Senior Customer Quality Engineer, Bankability Program Lead, or Head of Quality track roles with increasing external-facing scope.
- Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- This role is primarily performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing, or supplier environment, depending on program needs.
- Occasional work in high-voltage or industrial environments may be required, with appropriate training and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally to support testing, supplier, manufacturing, or customer activities.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.,
This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.,
This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
Internal applicants: moving into this role may result in an adjustment to your current compensation based on the posted pay range for this role, taking into consideration your qualifications and other relevant factors.

Company: As Ford establishes a wholly owned subsidiary focused on Battery Energy Storage Systems, this role will initially be employed by Ford and is expected to transition to the subsidiary within one year.
This position is hybrid with a requirement to be onsite four or more days per week.
