Pay Range
$35.50 - $53.25

Major Responsibilities

Perform Computed Tomography (CT) procedures using General Electric Revolution, LightSpeed, BrightSpeed, and HD750 CT systems in accordance with established operating procedures, clinical protocols, and imaging standards.

Imaging & Procedure Responsibilities
  • Perform CT examinations and ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Conduct computerized post-processing of images using appropriate reconstruction software based on the area of interest or suspected pathology.
  • Obtain and document patient history and relevant clinical information for radiologist review.
  • Prepare images and documentation for interpretation by a radiologist.
  • Accurately charge for patient examinations.

Patient Care
  • Provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care throughout all procedures.
  • Start IVs using proper technique.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media; monitor patients for reactions or complications.
  • Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including initiating emergency response procedures (e.g., Code Blue, respiratory distress).
  • Address minor patient concerns; escalate complex or sensitive issues to appropriate leadership.

Operations & Coordination
  • Coordinate scheduling of inpatients and outpatients to ensure efficient use of CT equipment and staff.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels of medical and procedural supplies.

Equipment Maintenance & Quality Assurance
  • Perform quality assurance testing to ensure optimal image quality and equipment performance.
  • Conduct daily tube warm-ups and CT system calibrations.
  • Report equipment issues to appropriate personnel and submit service requests (e.g., I-Linq/GE service).
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of diagnostic and support equipment.

Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • 1-2 years of radiology/CT experience preferred.
  • Completion of stroke education (minimum required hours per year).

Certifications & Licensure
  • ARRT (RT) certification required.
  • Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety (IDNS) license required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • IV certification within 3 months of hire.
  • CT certification within 1 year of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and CT imaging procedures.
  • Ability to perform all routine CT examinations independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and patient-relations skills.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently; heavier lifts require assistance and/or patient handling equipment.
  • Ability to assist with patient transport, positioning, and movement.
  • May require rotating shifts, weekend coverage, on-call duties, and overtime.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and availability for short-notice staffing needs.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and clinical environments.
  • Potential musculoskeletal strain due to lifting and repetitive motion.

Professional Development & Expectations
