SUPERINTENDENT - LOW VOLTAGE INSTALLATION SUPERVISOR
CRITICAL FACILITIES

JOB SUMMARY:

The Superintendent oversees and coordinates installation activities on active construction sites to ensure work is completed according to project drawings, specifications, schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role provides on-site direction, coordinates subcontractors, performs quality and safety checks, and supports the Project Manager with project-related tasks, responsibilities, and inquiries as needed.

The Superintendent also plays a key role in managing the relationship between ATS and installing subcontractors to support successful project execution. Depending on site requirements and labor needs, this position is expected to spend approximately 40-70% of its time providing on-site contractor supervision. This is an exempt position and reports to the Technical Project Manager, Project Manager, or other designated project leader based on site needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and execute installation plans to ensure mechanical, electrical, and technology systems meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to support installation activities, material deliveries, and project schedules.
  • Lead installation teams by assigning responsibilities, coordinating field activities, and ensuring project milestones are met.
  • Ensure installation work complies with project drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and applicable building codes.
  • Identify and resolve installation, quality, and commissioning issues, including drafting and submitting RFIs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installation activities, test results, First of Kind Installations, schedules, system performance, deficiencies, project status, and progress.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Participate in project meetings and field activities, including logistics meetings, coordination walks, quality walks, BIM coordination, project status reviews, and pull planning.
  • Review shop drawings and specifications, communicate installation requirements to field teams, and verify the accuracy of as-built documentation.
  • Utilize VDC/BIM models to support field coordination and clash detection with trade partners, contractors, and low-voltage subcontractors.
  • Maintain project-specific L1, L2, and other required installation checklists, ensuring documentation remains accurate and current with project progress.
  • Implement efficient, cost-effective installation practices and work with field teams to support successful execution of project goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate directly with customers and project stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop duration takeoffs to support installation scheduling. • Experience with data center and Critical Facilities automation systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of applicable local, state, and federal construction regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.
  • Ability to work safely on active construction sites, including walking long distances over uneven terrain, climbing ladders, using lifts, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Experience with Autodesk BIM products, Procore, Smartsheet, or similar project management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires a combination of working in an office environment and routine visits to project jobsites up to 50% of working hours. Project jobsites present typical construction and outdoor conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment for safety purposes. Lifting and exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds more frequently is required. Must be comfortable climbing a ladder infrequently.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Annual base salary ranges from $80,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

POSITION TYPE AND HOURS
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • 7am-5pm Monday through Friday work week (Site specific hours may differ)

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, a related field, or at least 6 years of industry related experience.
  • Low voltage electrical installation, and mechanical installation experience preferred.
  • Automation integration experience a plus.
  • 6+ years of construction industry experience, including at least 4 years of supervision of crew sizes of at least 8 team members. Equivalent academic experience also applies.
