This role operates within Corporate Trust's Default & Restructuring Group and administers complex bankruptcies, restructurings, litigation, depositions and other distressed trustee relationships in the Conventional Product division supporting multiple product groups including Corporate Debt, Municipal Conduit, Housing and Paying Agent products, and Agency & Lease products. The role manages escalated trust matters, including defaults, workouts, insolvencies, and holder inquiries, while coordinating with attorneys, financial advisors, issuers, bondholders, and internal partners.
The position evaluates risk, provides strategic recommendations, supports transaction execution, and helps protect the company from legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk while operating within contractual, prudent person, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
A role you will love Responsible for administering and managing complex trust accounts requiring specialized expertise in defaults, bankruptcies, restructurings, litigation, depositions and distressed debt matters. Provides due diligence, risk assessment, client relationship management, and strategic recommendations while supporting transaction execution, workouts, and insolvency proceedings. Partners with internal and external counsel, clients, and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal, financial, operational, and reputational risks, maximize recoveries and indemnification protections, and ensure compliance with contractual, prudent person, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. Presents and escalates significant matters to management and supports business development and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities - Administer complex default, bankruptcy, restructuring, workout, and distressed debt transactions, including due diligence, risk assessment, and resolution of escalated issues.
- Provide specialized expertise and leadership for assigned accounts, serving as the key contact among clients, counsel, financial advisors, and internal partners to facilitate complex workout, restructuring, and litigation matters.
- Manage special situations, including defaults, litigation, restructurings, successor trustee appointments, and other strategic transaction opportunities.
- Identify, assess, and escalate legal, operational, financial, and reputational risks, and present key issues at watchlist, risk, and senior management meetings.
- Partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including counsel, governance and control, communications, and senior management, to drive successful transaction outcomes.
- Support business growth and operational excellence through management reporting, account reviews, extraordinary expense recovery, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
What will you bring to the roleEssential:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
8-10+ years of corporate trust, restructuring, bankruptcy, legal, or related financial services experience.
Preferred:Juris Doctor or Master in Business Administration.
Corporate trust default administration, bankruptcy, restructuring, or distressed debt experience.

Compensation. The typical base pay range for this role is $105,000 - $130,000 in Sacramento | Chicago | New Jersey | Columbia | Canton | St. Paul |New York | Denver. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. This role also has a targeted bonus opportunity of 10%.
