Job Description

Position Purpose:

Corporate Counsel will represent and provide legal advice to the Company's Municipal Water Contract Operations business unit. This position will advise senior management on a broad array of topics, with a particular focus on negotiating and administering compliance with complex long-term operation and maintenance contracts of water and wastewater treatment plants throughout the assigned region. The position may provide additional assistance to the Company's other business units, as needed and appropriate.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Identify and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations.
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on legal issues.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements, contracts and other legal documents to protect the company's rights and interests.
  • Deal professionally and efficiently with complex matters involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization.
  • Work with integrity and a sense of professionalism.
  • Maintain current knowledge of new legislation and amendments.
  • Stay informed and promote compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with senior management, project management, and other functions to further the interests of the business.
  • Support the Company's goal of helping municipal clients address their environmental and sustainability challenges.
  • Be able to adapt to an evolving regulatory and business environment.
  • Actively participate in Legal Department activities as a team player.

Work Environment:
  • This is a hybrid role (3/2) based in our Paramus, NJ office.


Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in legal practice.
  • Prior experience as in-house counsel preferred, but not required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as a proven ability to negotiate and draft documentation for sophisticated commercial transactions.
  • Adept at working with minimal supervision on multiple time-sensitive projects and dealing directly with business developers, senior management and finance, accounting and tax professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to interface with colleagues at all levels of the organization by virtue of professional competence, personal integrity, and personal style.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.
  • State bar member in good standing.

Physical Requirements:
  • May be required to travel to different sites and follow all Health & safety protocols on site.
  • Hybrid Schedule as per Company policy.


Additional Information

Pay Range: $150000 to $170000 Per Year.
