Description
The Senior Designer-Interiors position will report directly to the Senior Design Director.
The Senior Designer-Interiors is responsible for delivering high quality design deliverables and functions as a key team member in project development and documentation. This position works closely with architects and designers to design interior environments for a variety of clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS• Lead the planning of design concepts of interior and exterior environments in collaboration with the project team through all project phases.
• Develop master design plans and create original design solutions consistent with client requirements including three dimensional concepts, material palette development, and furniture specifications.
• Develop test fits- be able to prepare a test fit and critique the final outcome.
• Participate in project program development with Client and workplace strategy team.
• Collaborate with project architects to create buildable design concepts and lead teams on design initiatives.
• Implementation of design including responding to RFIs, punch lists and approval of submittals during documentation and construction administration project phases.
• Create presentation materials that effectively communicate design concepts utilizing a variety of media (both 2D & 3D).
• Responsible for all furniture specifications including evaluation of different manufacturers and manufacturer and dealer interviews and selections.
• Handle request for proposals and leveling of bids, with oversight from Design directors.
• Researches and stays current with industry trends to explore and execute new techniques.
• Collaborate with creative teams (3d, 2d and digital) on new innovations and creative concepts.
• Assist with marketing efforts as needed when seeking new projects.
• Perform other related duties as required.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION• Bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture; or, equivalent combination of education and experience, master's degree preferred.
• 7-10 years of professional experience in commercial interiors required.
• IIDA or NCIDQ and LEED Certification preferred.
• Extensive experience in furniture and finishes selection, specification, procurement and leveling of bids.
CORE COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and work within specified budgets.
- Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm and with clients and other key constituents.
- Ability to put together a cohesive, comprehensive design presentation that shows innovation and creative thinking.
