Job Summary:The COS Project Manager II leads complex, high-impact continuous improvement initiatives across multiple departments, value streams, plants, or business functions. This role applies advanced Lean, Six Sigma, project management, and Carlisle Operating System (COS) expertise to design and execute solutions that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, and overall business performance.
Working with significant independence, the COS Project Manager II directs cross-functional project teams, manages risk and organizational change, and advises leaders on improvement priorities, investment, and execution. The role also builds organizational capability by coaching project leaders, sharing best practices, and strengthening the consistent application of COS methodologies.
Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional overtime or weekend work based on business needs. Travel is expected approximately 20% to 40% of the time throughout the year.
Duties and Responsibilities:Continuous Improvement and Strategic Impact- Lead high-impact COS and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple departments, value streams, plants, or business functions.
- Align project objectives, measures, and execution plans with plant, functional, and business-unit priorities.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to complex problems involving operational, technical, financial, and people-related considerations.
- Drive measurable and sustainable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, process capability, and customer outcomes.
- Develop or adapt improvement approaches to address complex environments and systemic barriers.
- Monitor and report project performance, key performance indicators, savings, risks, and sustainment results.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen COS systems, standard work, governance, and transfer of best practices across locations.
Project and Change Management- Define project scope, business case, objectives, deliverables, milestones, resource requirements, governance, and success measures.
- Lead complex cross-functional and multi-site projects, multiple workstreams, and matrixed project teams with minimal oversight.
- Manage project risks, dependencies, barriers, budgets or resource needs, stakeholder expectations, and change impacts.
- Facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping, business process mapping, root cause analysis, process redesign, and other structured improvement activities.
- Create and maintain accurate project documentation, action tracking, dashboards, communications, and executive-level updates.
- Ensure implemented improvements include clear ownership, controls, and sustainment plans.
- Provide recommendations to leadership regarding project prioritization, investment, sequencing, and resourcing.
Coaching, Capability Building, and Collaboration- Coach leaders, project teams, and CI practitioners on COS principles, Lean and Six Sigma tools, project management, and change leadership.
- Mentor less-experienced project leaders and review project plans, methods, analyses, and deliverables to improve quality and capability.
- Act as a trusted advisor to plant and functional leaders by translating complex analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Build alignment across functions and locations, influence without direct authority, and help resolve competing priorities or barriers.
- Lead workshops, training sessions, and problem-solving activities for varied organizational audiences.
- Promote knowledge sharing, replication of successful improvements, and consistent application of COS standards.

QualificationsRequired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:- Advanced knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional or multi-site improvement projects with measurable business impact.
- Strong project and program management skills, including scope, schedule, resources, risk, change, governance, and sustainment.
- Ability to analyze operational and business data, evaluate alternatives, and translate findings into practical solutions.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, presentation, written communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence senior leaders, build coalitions, navigate ambiguity, and drive accountability without direct authority.
- Sound judgment and demonstrated ability to make independent decisions within broad role authority.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, business processes, performance systems, and key operational metrics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management or analytical software; experience with tools such as SAP or Minitab is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholder groups in a dynamic environment.
Education and Experience: - Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, or a related field.
- Eight or more years of progressive experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, manufacturing, operations, or related project leadership.
- Experience leading complex improvement initiatives across multiple departments, plants, value streams, or business functions.
- Experience coaching teams and leaders and driving sustainable organizational change.
- Preferred:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certification, with Black Belt certification preferred.
- Project management certification such as PMP or equivalent.
- Experience working across multiple manufacturing sites or business units.
