Our British Columbia Water Team is growing, and we want you to join our team to work alongside others who share your passion to support communities through exciting and unique water, wastewater, general civil infrastructure, and solid waste projects as well as water resources and natural system projects.

You will participate with a team of professionals in the management of construction of large-scale civil, water, and solid waste infrastructure projects. The projects will be in various phases from conceptual planning, through design, construction, and occupancy. Your role as a contributor on our professional consulting services team is to work independently on large projects of high complexity.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Implement project controls for distribution and record keeping of construction drawings, construction contract correspondence, technical records, and other project documents.
  • Provides field presence and field instructions as necessary to support contractor and facilitate construction.
  • Monitor and document contractor's work for compliance with project safety standards.
  • Communicate with, and make recommendations to, the Project Manager, design professionals, client, owner, developer, or contractor, but not direct the means or methods of construction.
  • Monitor and document construction progress.
  • Provide the Project Manager with updates on project progress or delays to clients, design professionals, and/or contractors.
  • Review and evaluate plans and specifications to ensure designs are practical for construction.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals.
  • Conduct regular (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) construction meetings with contractor, Owner, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly or semi-monthly payment requests.
  • Prepare and issue change orders on contract.
  • Conduct field evaluations and assessments, advise on rectification of non- conforming works as required.
  • Manage deadlines, prioritize assignments, and prepare final documentation for the closeout process.
  • Assist in obtaining necessary permits and licenses for the timely opening of the site.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience in Project and Construction Management and Owner's Representative role in the review, construction support, site and field management, permitting requirements, understanding of local codes compliance and regulations, conformance with plans, specifications, contractor' practices, QC/QA and inspections, commissioning, close-out, and final acceptance
  • Willing and able to travel (if required)
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Team player with other Project Managers, Engineers, and Support Staff
  • Ability and experience of working with project plan, budget, schedules, and managing updates
  • Understanding of Project Delivery of CMAR and Design-Build or other alternative delivery methods is considered an asset.

Education and Experience
  • 8 to 10 years of related construction experience
  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree
  • On-the-job experience as a lead on at least 3 successful construction projects
  • Certification as P.Eng, AIA, CCM, PMP is preferred

The position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Must be available to travel for out-of-town projects when needed.

Pay Range:
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$94,600.00 - $137,100.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
