Responsibilities

Full Job Description
We are seeking Construction Managers (Owner Authorized Representatives) to oversee the delivery of major K-12 facilities improvement and construction projects throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District. In this role, you will serve as the District's representative, managing project budgets, schedules, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with District standards.

Candidates may be considered at either the OAR I or OAR II level based on their experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all phases of assigned projects, including pre-construction, bidding, construction, closeout, and occupancy.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and overall project performance.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, public agencies, and District stakeholders.
  • Review construction schedules, submittals, RFIs/RFCs, and change order proposals.
  • Negotiate and manage contractor change orders and schedule impacts.
  • Oversee contractor payments and consultant agreements.
  • Coordinate furniture, fixtures, and equipment installation.
  • Manage DSA closeout and project financial closeout activities.
  • Prepare project status reports and presentations for leadership.

Requirements
Required Experience
  • 10+ years of professional experience in construction management, project management, or related construction leadership roles.
  • Experience managing commercial, public agency, educational, or institutional construction projects.
  • Experience overseeing project budgets, schedules, contractor performance, and change management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • CCM certification may substitute for degree requirements.


Preferred Qualifications
  • K-12 school, higher education, or public works construction experience.
  • Design-Build project experience.
  • DSA experience.
  • BIM experience.
  • LEED and/or CHPS project experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • California Architect, Professional Engineer, or CCM credential.
