We're looking for a Construction Manager to lead the technical execution of our projects - from buyout through closeout. You'll own subcontractor management, drawing review, field coordination, cost control, and quality of the finished work.
This is a growth role. FCI is growing, and the right Construction Manager will grow with us - into Senior Construction Manager, Director of Construction, and beyond as the company expands.
Primary Responsibilities:Subcontractor Management
- Identify, solicit, and buy out subcontractors for assigned projects
- Hold subcontractors accountable to scope, schedule, quality, and safety
- Resolve field conflicts, scope gaps, and coordination issues between trades
- Review and approve subcontractor pay applications based on work in place
Project Execution
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Lead constructability review during preconstruction - catch scope gaps before they hit the field
- Coordinate trade sequencing, site logistics, and phasing with the General Superintendent
- Walk sites regularly, resolve issues in real time, and keep projects moving
- Work closely with FCI's Project Management Team
Estimation, Cost & Schedule
- Own project cost from buyout through closeout
- Track committed costs, projected final costs, and margin
- Manage change order pricing and scope control to protect margin
- Build realistic schedules and drive recovery plans when projects slip
Quality, Safety & Closeout
- Enforce FCI's safety program and applicable OSHA/EM385 standards
- Coordinate with our Quality Control Managers on QC standards and testing
- Lead punch list resolution, closeout documentation, and final turnover
What We're Looking For:Required:- Minimum 5 years of federal construction management
- Experience running commercial AND federal projects in the $1M - $10M range
- Strong drawing and specification reading (architectural, structural, MEP)
- Subcontractor management experience - buyout, coordination, accountability
- Comfort with cost tracking, change orders, and margin discipline
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to grow - take on more responsibility, learn federal construction, and step into leadership
Preferred:- Federal construction experience (USACE, NAVFAC, VA, GSA, or agency direct)
- OSHA 30, EM385, or CSSHO certification
- Construction software fluency
- Growing subcontractor network in the DC / NCR market
- Engineering or construction management degree
