Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Computational Designer to join our data-driven Computational Design team. This role is focused on the development and application of advanced computational workflows in architecture, urban design, planning and engineering projects. We work on a broad range of local and international projects for both public and private sector clients.

This role is suited for a candidate with strong technical capabilities and the ability to translate design intent into computational solutions. Our team offers flexibility regarding the candidate's location. The successful candidate will have the option to work from any of our offices throughout the United States or remotely.

Role accountabilities:
  • Build computational models for various projects
  • Build, maintain and improve computational workflows and products across the firm
  • Work interoperably between many different platforms and formats including 3D modeling software, GIS, BIM, and software development environments.
  • Work with a range of project related data sources and formats including environmental, economic, planning and demographic data.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to understand their needs and develop strategies
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies, best practices, and software applications
  • Build technical expertise across the firm and provide continuing education
  • Communicate technical ideas in a verbally and graphically accessible manner
  • Create presentation and report materials to support projects
  • Build quality relationships with team members and across the organization

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Computational Design, Interactive Media Design, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or related fields (Master's Degree preferred)
  • Strong skills in Rhino and Grasshopper with demonstrated experience building and deploying complex parametric models
  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python highly preferred) and experience using these to extend the capabilities of Grasshopper
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a professional Urban Design, Planning, Landscape Architectural, or Architectural firm preferred
  • Project portfolio showcasing parametric modeling
  • Ability to multi-task with a keen eye for detail and precision
  • Ability to deliver in challenging project timeframes and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Critical thinking skills to develop innovative solutions


Additional Information:

We request applicants submit a portfolio highlighting relevant work experience (maximum 10 pages).

Selected applicants will be asked to present a past computational design project for technical review.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
