Job Details
The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) at Thomas Jefferson University is seeking a talented computational biologist to serve in our Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and Research Informatics Shared Resource. The computational biologist will primarily be responsible for guiding experimental design for research studies requiring computational analysis as well as providing computational biology support for these studies. All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position by applicants.Job Description
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
Education:
Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or closely related field or Bachelor’s degree with more than 3 years experience in Bioinformatics-related field.
AND
Experience:
·Experience with Linux environment
·NGS expertise
·Scripting experience in R, Python or similar
·Ability to converse with investigators and/or delegated research staff to determine scope, requirements, deliverables and timing for projects
·Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate and interpret complex concepts to a wide variety of audiences
