Composites Materials Technician II (Swing Shift)We develop and commercialize advanced 3D printing filaments and deliver 3D printed parts to our customers. The Composites Materials Technician II will be responsible for compounding, testing and 3D printing novel composite materials. These materials will be put through quality control tests. Additionally, this role includes operating Lyten equipment to post process and chemically functionalize graphene materials. The individual will ensure that the processes, equipment, and systems operate reliably and efficiently. They will carry out regular maintenance to keep the organization's infrastructure in optimal condition.
What You'll Do:- Perform and support the operation of various processes to produce Lyten 3D Graphene - thermoplastic composite materials
- Work with other technicians on the operation and maintenance of Lyten thermoplastic compounders
- Chemically modify graphene powders by operating Lyten reactors
- Operate 3D printers to produce parts
- Perform quality control tests and document results
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely.
- Assist in the installation and setup of laboratory equipment and ensure proper function.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose issues with machinery and equipment, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain records of all experiments, maintenance and repair activities, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Safety: Always wear proper PPE.
- Tools and Equipment Management: Keep all tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure that the work area is clean and organized.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest best practices, tools, and technologies related to maintenance and repair.
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members to meet production goals and to bring new ideas to life and achieve technical goals
- Vendor Relations: Coordinate with external contractors and service providers when necessary, ensuring quality work at a reasonable cost.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree (unrelated field) OR Associate degree (unrelated field) AND 1+ year of relevant experience in fast growth manufacturing or machining environments, control systems, or a related area OR Military AND 1+ year of relevant experience in fast growth manufacturing or machining environments, data entry, purchasing, with control systems, or a related area OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ years of relevant experience in fast growth manufacturing or machining environments, data entry, purchasing, with control systems, or a related area OR Equivalent experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or start up environment
- Hands-on experience with melt processing, particularly extrusion or compounding, in a production or scale-up setting
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be a team player and able to work under minimal supervision.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals
Nice to Have- Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing, particularly FFF/FDM filament
- Experience working with powders
- Experience working in a quality control setting
Physical Requirements:- Ability to work in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, lab coats, safety glasses, and respirators as required
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time during laboratory experiments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensations Range: The expected base salary range for this position is between
$31.63 - $47.50
The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.
