Standard Job Description

This classification requires on-the-job training and performance of diverse assignments related to the RP4884 Composites Fabricator-Developmental Radome activities for the purpose of acquiring training and experience to satisfactorily perform the distinguishing requirements of the classification.

Develops complex methods and sequence of operation, fabricates, cures, builds up and assembles Radomes from engineering drawings, development specifications and/or verbal instructions where complete information is not readily available; focuses on contamination control, exact tolerances, and radio frequency (RF) and radar cross section (RCS) properties; exercises complete knowledge of plastics/composite shop practices, theory and procedures, including a thorough knowledge of the physical properties of all types of plastics/composites and their forming and processing characteristics; develops tooling concepts and recommends changes to engineering, planning and tooling; performs tool-proving checks on new tooling and processing concepts where an in-depth knowledge of material is required.

Performs drilling and countersinking, bonding of diverters and grommets, bonding and hand trimming and forming of core and substrates; performs co-cure layup.

Sets up assemblies and parts in curing equipment such as an autoclave, oven, or integrally heated tooling in order to obtain desired set and cure.

Works with authorized personnel in developing tooling and parts, and assists in setting up operations on a production basis.

Improvises shop aids as required.

Operates laser projection equipment as required.

Performs duties of a Composites Fabricator-Developmental and Composites Fabricator and Assembler, Senior as required.

Employees will perform the functions of the above referenced classification and must demonstrate successful completion of assignments with a level of oversight and instruction, where appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

Must have prior experience with radomes and a minimum of two years composite fabrication and layup experience.

Must be able to demonstrate entry level blueprint and technical data comprehension, basic computer operations.

Pay Information
  • $27.71 - $47.99

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
