Full Job Description
The Community Lending Officer will establish and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, realtors, and governmental agencies which result in lending opportunities for the bank to ensure full compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act. The candidate will sell and originate residential mortgage loans to a predetermined sales goal focused in CRA assessment area needs. The candidate will identify and meet with prospects, explain various mortgage products available, determine best alternatives together with prospects and finalize sales. This position will support the WWA WTB Bank footprint.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the coordination of WTB's community outreach activities and community development service events.
  • Serve, where appropriate, as a member of civic, professional, and community development organizations that contribute to WTB's CRA objectives.
  • Communicate ways by which management and staff can address fair lending responsibilities for WTB's lending practices and standards.
  • Assist lenders in identifying and originating loans that meet the criteria of CRA in WTB's CRA assessment areas.
  • Establishes and develops relationships with an extensive network of real estate agents so that potential mortgage customers within CRA assessed areas will be referred to WTB.
  • Turns in a completed loan application within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Pre-qualifies self-employed borrowers to include preparation of cash flow work sheets and requesting and analyzing financial records and tax returns.
  • Maintains responsibility for the loan file from application through closing.
  • Foster a culture where all WTB Team Members have a good understanding of both CRA and fair lending laws applicable to their position.
  • Actively participate in festivals, fairs, and trade shows to promote new business for the Bank.
  • Stays abreast of individual community trends and economic development changes. Tracks and measures event participation results. Makes recommendations to maximize return on future investments of events, sponsorships, philanthropic initiatives, and donations.
  • Liaise with local governments and community development organizations ensuring the bank's presence is known and respected in the community. Build and manage a network of contacts within state and local government and community organizations.

  • Prepares periodic productivity reports as required.
  • Required to attend department meetings.
  • Performs property inspections as required.
  • Attends scheduled training sessions.
  • Frequent contact with real estate companies and agents to establish referral relationships.
  • Frequent contact with department employees to assist in processing and closing requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to speak English and Mandarin/Cantonese fluently preferred.
  • Knowledge of real estate and mortgage banking industry.
  • Knowledge of Truth-in-Lending and compliance with government regulations.
  • Knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and construction loan policies and procedures.
  • Automobile required, together with valid Washington State Driver's license.
  • May be assigned a specific territory and/or specific agents.
  • Required to have or obtain a Mortgage Loan Originator registration number through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS)


Compensation: $89,991- $134,987

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base salary ranges for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. This position is eligible to participate in an applicable annual incentive plan.
