As a Communications Department Officer, you will be the single communications officer for a department and oversee the department's communications and marketing efforts and strategies. You will perform a broad range of advanced-level professional marketing, communications, and public relations work, ensuring clear, effective, and engaging messaging across multiple platforms.

We Require- Three years of professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or related communication functions
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, or a related field
- Postgraduate degrees or professional-level related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis
Job Contributions- Develops, organizes, and coordinates public relations and information programs to advise and assist management in public relations and information activities
- Establishes and maintains contact with community groups and county officials to meet the department's public outreach goals and needs
- Researches, writes, and coordinates the design of direct marketing materials (mailers, flyers, newsletters, etc.) for internal and external distribution
- Communicates departmental-related technical information to targeted audiences, both written, visual, and oral
- Develops, updates, and maintains content for departmental social media sites and department websites
- Writes scripts and presentations for the purpose of marketing department programs and services
- Works within departmental budget and monitors expenditures while providing quality marketing products
- Serves as media relations spokesperson or liaison for the department
- Contacts and works with representatives of other agencies, both public and private, concerning departmental services and activities
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Working Conditions- Ability to lift to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly
- Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
