The Role We Want You For

LJC is seeking a Commissioning Agent to support the delivery of complex healthcare projects nationwide. This role will be responsible for ensuring critical building systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated in accordance with project requirements, regulatory standards, and owner expectations.

The ideal candidate will have experience commissioning healthcare facilities and a strong understanding of building mechanical, electrical, and control systems. This individual will work closely with project teams, contractors, and owners to validate system performance, support compliance initiatives, and ensure operational readiness throughout the project lifecycle.

The Specifics of the Role
  • Lead commissioning activities for healthcare facilities from design through occupancy.
  • Review design documents and equipment submittals to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, procedures, and testing protocols.
  • Perform installation verification and functional performance testing of building systems.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with owners, contractors, design teams, and vendors.
  • Verify systems meet regulatory requirements and healthcare industry standards.
  • Identify and document deficiencies, track corrective actions, and verify resolution.
  • Support infection control, redundancy, resiliency, and continuity-of-operation objectives.
  • Conduct site inspections and witness equipment startup and testing activities.
  • Prepare commissioning reports, issue logs, and final project documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructability and operational feedback.
  • Support client training and turnover activities to ensure successful project handoff.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Sciences, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare commissioning, building systems commissioning, or related construction engineering roles.
  • Experience with healthcare facility infrastructure and critical environments.
  • Working knowledge of building mechanical systems, HVAC, controls, electrical distribution, and life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience performing functional performance testing and installation verification.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Healthcare commissioning certification preferred.
  • ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 Commissioning Certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with power, lighting, and low-voltage systems is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
