Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Concrete Operations Manager to lead and oversee our commercial concrete operations. This position will manage field operations, crews, equipment, scheduling, production, and project execution while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate is an experienced concrete professional and strong leader who understands the demands of commercial concrete construction and can build productive teams, solve field problems, and maintain strong relationships with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

The right individual will have a strong work ethic, excellent judgment, and the ability to balance safety, quality, schedule, manpower, and profitability. A hands-on approach and a willingness to do what it takes to help the team succeed are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the commercial concrete division.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and crews to meet project schedules.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure successful project execution.
  • Oversee concrete crews and provide leadership, direction, and accountability.
  • Monitor production, productivity, labor costs, equipment utilization, and project performance.
  • Review project schedules and identify potential operational challenges before they impact production.
  • Coordinate with estimating and project management teams during project planning and turnover.
  • Ensure crews have the proper materials, equipment, drawings, and information needed to perform their work.
  • Maintain high standards for concrete quality, workmanship, and jobsite efficiency.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving when field conditions or project requirements change.
  • Coordinate equipment needs, maintenance, repairs, and utilization.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and development of concrete employees.
  • Establish clear expectations for foremen and field personnel and hold teams accountable for performance.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Monitor jobsite conditions and ensure proper documentation of operational issues.
  • Work with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers as needed.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide operational updates to company leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with forecasting labor and equipment needs for upcoming work.
  • Travel to jobsites throughout the St. Louis area and surrounding markets as needed.


Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial concrete construction, with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Previous experience managing concrete crews, foremen, superintendents, or field operations.
  • Strong understanding of commercial concrete construction methods, scheduling, production, and sequencing.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, crews, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of labor productivity and job cost management.
  • Ability to identify problems quickly and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company-specific construction software.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • OSHA 30 or other construction safety training is preferred.
