Key Responsibilities:
  1. Serves as a drug information resource for members of the health care team.
  2. Contacts providers in a timely manner when there is a concern about a prescription related to a drug interaction, allergy, drug disease state interaction, and other circumstances as indicated.
  3. Provides supervision and direction to pharmacy technicians to ensure timely and accurate pharmacy services.
  4. Assists in the training and education of pharmacy students, pharmacy technician students, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacists.
  5. Handles and resolves customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
  6. Manages inventory and monetary transactions for optimizing cost efficiency of the outpatient pharmacy.
  7. Counsels patients on their drug therapy to enhance compliance and identify side effects.
  8. Answers questions, administers vaccines, and provides OTC recommendations based on patient needs and evaluation of medication history and identified disease states.
  9. Assumes responsibility for investigating and resolving third-party payment issues.
  10. Works collaboratively with physician offices to obtain specialty prescriptions.
  11. Initiates a prior authorization in Cover My Meds if needed, and monitors until approved.
  12. Researches to find copay assistance if needed and assists in getting patients enrolled.
  13. Provides written and verbal consultation to the patient along with proactive management of any refills.
  14. Assumes responsibility for Medication Therapy Management cases assigned to our pharmacy.
  15. Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.


Licenses & Certifications:
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of South Carolina.
  • Completion of APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Program.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Essential Skills:
  • Knowledge of specialty pharmaceuticals, patient care and counseling, prior authorization management, third-party reimbursement, regulatory compliance, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills.
