About the role of the Clinical Pharmacist

In this role, the Clinical Pharmacist will be a strategic clinical pharmacy partner who helps clients make smarter, data-driven pharmacy benefit decisions. This role works closely with clients, account teams, and internal pharmacy experts to evaluate program performance, identify cost and utilization trends, consult on clinical opportunities, and recommend practical strategies that support affordability, quality, and member experience. By translating complex pharmacy data and market insights into clear, actionable guidance, the Clinical Pharmacist helps clients understand what is driving their pharmacy spend and how to optimize their benefits.

Role requires 20% travel across Western, WA, Eastern, WA and Alaska to meet with clients.

What you'll do
  • Works as a pharmacy subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders including brokers and employer groups
  • Develops and presents pharmacy reporting to internal and external audiences including client-specific pharmacy experience/trend reporting
  • Understands client benefit set-ups and works with sales to identify gaps and client opportunities
  • Provides pharmacy RFP sales support
  • Maintains industry knowledge such as market trends, drug pipeline, pharmacy product solutions and brings insight to inform benefit management strategies and product development
  • Collaborates in strategy development by bringing client and market insights to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides thought leadership in benefit, clinical, analytics and product recommendations to clients to advance affordability, quality and member experience
  • Knows, understands, and communicates pharmacy-related marketplace topics and issues for unique/varied audiences


What you'll bring
  • Pharmacist Degree. (Required)
  • Active US Pharmacist license in good standing. (Required)
  • Two (2) years' experience as a pharmacist or completing of clinical pharmacy training, clinical residency training from an accredited Pharmacy program. (Required)
  • An advanced degree (e.g. PharmD, MBA, MHA, MPH or equivalent experience). (Preferred)
  • Experience in managed care setting. (Preferred)
  • Experience in retail pharmacy environment. (Preferred)
  • Experience in delivering MTM services directly to patients. (Preferred)
  • Experience in managed care setting for one year or more. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the core elements of MTM services. (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of drug utilization management tactics including formulary development and drug use criteria development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of drug information procedures and reference sourcing.
  • Ability to support multiple, complex, and concurrent projects.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a member of a team.
  • Strong analytical and PC operation skills (i.e. Microsoft Office products).
  • Familiarity with local and regional health care issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of drug utilization management tactics including formulary development and drug use criteria development.
