Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $99,174.00 - $161,720.00 annually, based on experience

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
• Develops and manages department budgets in collaboration with physician partners, finance, and leadership. Monitors expenditures and ensures efficient use of resources.
• Ensures appropriate 24-hour staffing based on patient acuity, staff competency, and the diverse needs of the patient population.
• Guides process improvements using research and evidence-based practices. Supports a Shared Governance model to advance care delivery and outcomes.
• Fosters a culture of accountability, professionalism, and patient-centered care through consistent policy implementation and staff engagement.
• Interviews, hires, and onboards new staff. Evaluates performance, recommends promotions, addresses disciplinary issues, and provides ongoing coaching and development. Supports staff well-being and engagement through regular communication, recognition efforts, and promoting a healthy work environment.
• Maintains care standards in accordance with regulatory and professional guidelines. Ensures compliance with accrediting bodies and legal requirements.
• Serves as the primary escalation point for operational and clinical issues on the unit. Resolves patient and family concerns to enhance internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of clinical practice using internal and external data. Identifies opportunities for improvement and collaborates with key stakeholders. Leads daily operational huddles and routine staff rounding to ensure awareness of unit priorities and address real-time concerns.
• Develops systems to track and achieve performance metrics related to patient satisfaction, employee engagement, quality outcomes, and financial targets.
• Maintains clinical nursing competencies relevant to the assigned area of responsibility. Develops and implements unit-specific orientation, ongoing education, and competency assessments in partnership with clinical educators.
• Participates in organizational committees and initiatives representing unit needs and performance.
• Leads a culture of safety through proactive risk mitigation and continuous quality improvement, taking measures to routinely evaluate regulatory readiness. Monitors and analyzes safety and performance metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions for staff and/or patients as appropriate.
• Collaborates with Centralized Timekeeping and Scheduling to ensure accurate staff scheduling and alignment with operational needs. Utilizes UKG WFM to monitor employee attendance via the attendance tab, verifies attendance-related occurrences requiring disciplinary action, and reviews departmental staffing reports to assess efficiency, policy adherence, and appropriate meal break usage. Reviews and approves late timecards and schedule edit requests submitted through AskHR. Addresses patterns of late submissions that may require corrective action.
• Develops and implements educational programs and initiatives to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of inpatient nursing staff.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When the primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under the new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
• Five (5) years of RN experience in a hospital setting.
• Two (2) years of managerial or supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
