Organizes, plans and directs department operations to comply with hospital policy and objectives. Establishes and implements departmental philosophy, goals and objectives, standards, policies and procedures to achieve quality patient care and customer service. Maintains accountability of clinical and operational functions. What you will do
347 Demonstrates fiscal responsibility for departmental budgets.
347 Plans, organizes, implements, and monitors departmental activities and operations in collaboration with Directors and Medical Director.
347 Plans and schedules work ensuring distribution of assignments and adequate staffing based on workload and productivity standards.
347 Directs a unit-based Performance Improvement Program in which individuals are an integral part of the Performance Improvement process.
347 Hires, develops and maintains a competent, productive and quality-conscious workforce while maintaining own management competencies.
347 Promotes awareness and ensures Associates' compliance with safety standards.
347 Assures compliance with hospital policy and regulatory agency requirements.
347 Integrates organizational/administrative/corporate goals and objectives into unit/department operations and communicates these goals and objectives to Associates.
347 Ensures good working relationships between departments; serves as a resource and liaison with physicians for advanced problem solving related to operations.
Education/Formal Training Requirements
347 Required - Bachelor's Degree Nursing
Work Experience Requirements
347 Required - Nursing 5-7 years
347 Preferred - Nursing leadership 3-5 years
Licenses and Certifications Requirements
347 Required - BASIC LIFE SUPPORT - American Heart Association
347 Required - Registered Nurse Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Nursing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
347 Demonstrated skill in personnel management and interpersonal relations.
347 Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as business plans and contracts.
347 Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of associates, management, physicians, outside review agencies, patients and families.
347 Ability to lead and motivate and maintain relationships with individuals and groups of people toward accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
347 Skill in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including associates, management and physicians.
347 Ability to plan and schedule task and projects and to maintain control of own and others' workflow.
347 Skill in developing and implementing long-range plans and programs.
347 Ability to work without close supervision or professional guidance and to exercise independent judgment.
347 Basic knowledge of information systems.
Supervision Provided by this Position
347 All staff assigned to clinical units.
Physical Demands
347 The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
347 Must have good balance and coordination.
347 The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
347 The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
347 Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
347 Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
347 Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
