Full Job Description
Audubon is currently seeking a Civil/Structural Designer, Sr. to join our team in our Houston, TX Office. The Civil/Structural Designer will be responsible for developing and coordinating detailed civil design drawings and plans for site development, grading/earthwork, drainage, utilities, and roadways. This role supports engineers and project managers by preparing design layouts, redlines, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related civil design software. The Senior Civil Designer ensures design accuracy, consistency with standards, and adherence to project requirements and schedules. Additionally, this position reviews work prepared by other designers, assists with cross-discipline coordination, and contributes to quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare complete design packages that may include, but not be limited to, preliminary, conceptual,

and construction deliverables as well as engineering calculations related to grading, drainage, utilities,

and earthwork modeling.
  • Prepare grading plans, plan and profile drawings, cross sections, and construction details in

accordance with company and client standards.
  • Perform earthwork modeling and cut/fill volume analysis to support site layout optimization.
  • Review and incorporate redlines, markups, and design revisions efficiently and accurately.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design workflows and

quality.
  • Manage multiple design tasks and priorities across concurrent projects while meeting schedule

deadlines.
  • Assist in developing design standards, templates, and best practices for the civil design team.
  • Translate and align design data between plant coordinate systems and real-world survey coordinates
  • Integrate and coordinate models between Navisworks and AutoCAD Civil 3D to support clash

detection, model reviews, and multidiscipline coordination.
  • Interpret verbal or written directions to initiate a preliminary design.
  • Check detailed sketches and drawings for project applicability and optimal construction.
  • Coordinate with survey teams to obtain, review, and integrate survey data into design models; ensure

correct alignment of site features, benchmarks, and control points.
  • Design and draft underground utilities (storm, sanitary, and water) in plan and profile and coordinate

with other disciplines for crossings and clearances.
  • Check and verify accuracy of drawings prepared by others.
  • Prepare bills of material (BOM) and specifications when drawings are complete. Revise drawings and

BOM consistent with engineering changes.
  • Implement revisions and change control per company standards at the direction of engineers.
  • Assemble information and reference drawings from a variety of sources.
  • Continually look for product improvements and cost reductions.
  • Assist with performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various

design solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy of completed drawings before final release and verify drawings meet company and

industry standards.
  • Check field red-lined drawings and generate accurate as-built drawings as needed.
  • Familiarity with drainage and stormwater management standards is a plus.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate's Degree from a Technical Institution preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience preferred
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D software experience required (including surface modeling, grading, and drainage

design)
  • Navisworks software experience required
  • Microsoft Office software experience preferred
  • Experience in offshore oil & gas, onshore gas processing, hydrocarbon storage and transportation,

chemical manufacturing or refining industry required
  • Small/Medium project lead experience required
  • Large project lead experience preferred
  • Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problems
  • Ability to comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessary
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to think in such a way as to produce a new concept or idea
