We are looking for a Civil Engineer with 5-10 years of experience to join our Minneapolis civil engineering team. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety and wants to develop a broad civil engineering skill set. Rather than focusing on one type of project, our team supports projects across utilities, water, renewables, energy, heavy civil, and general site development. Our work can range from developing a site and grading plan for a new energy facility or other development to designing drainage and utilities, laying out roads and construction access, solving erosion or slope problems, or supporting improvements at major infrastructure facilities. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and designers, taking greater ownership of designs, coordinating across disciplines, and helping deliver projects from concept through construction. You'll continue to grow with support from senior engineers while guiding less-experienced engineers. What You Will Be Doing: Depending on your experience and interests, and the projects that we have in front of us, your responsibilities may include: 3 Develop site layouts, grading plans, and earthwork designs 3 Design stormwater management, drainage, and conveyance systems 3 Design and coordinate sanitary sewer, watermain, and other site utilities 3 Develop roads, access drives, parking areas, and pavement layouts 3 Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses 3 Develop erosion and sediment control designs 3 Support slope stabilization, slope protection, drainage, and related site improvements 3 Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, calculations, reports, and cost estimates 3 Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, water resources, and other engineering disciplines 3 Participate in field investigations and construction support 3 Work directly with project managers and, as your experience grows, clients 3 Review work prepared by designers, engineers in training, and engineering interns 3 Take increasing responsibility for technical decisions, project coordination, schedules, and budgets You'll encounter a variety of projects in this position. Your work may include: 3 General civil/site development 3 Roads, parking areas, and site access 3 Water and utility infrastructure 3 Heavy civil projects 3 Renewable energy and solar facilities 3 Power generation sites 3 Substations and energy infrastructure 3 Lock and dam facilities 3 Flood protection and river-related projects 3 Dredging and river-related improvements 3 Erosion repair, slope protection, and stabilization projects Required Qualifications: 3 Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field 3 Approximately 5-10 years of relevant civil engineering experience 3 Experience with civil/site design, infrastructure, utilities, stormwater, or related work 3 Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation and OpenRoads 3 Understanding of grading, drainage, earthwork, and utility design 3 Ability to prepare clear calculations, drawings, reports, and technical documentation 3 Strong communication skills 3 Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and designers from multiple disciplines 3 Professional Engineer registration is preferred. Candidates who are progressing toward PE licensure and have strong relevant experience are also encouraged to apply. $94,100 - $120,875 a year (Salary range for MN location) Stanley Consultants is committed to maintaining transparency in our hiring process, including providing information about compensation. The starting salary for the successful candidate in this position is competitive and will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications and experience, geographic location, internal equity, company policy and practices. In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are disclosed for positions and locations where required. What Will Make You Successful Here We're particularly interested in engineers who: 3 Like solving different kinds of civil engineering problems 3 Want exposure beyond a single market or repetitive project type 3 Are comfortable figuring things out rather than simply repeating established designs 3 Enjoy working closely with CAD technicians, engineers, and other disciplines 3 Can take ownership of a design while knowing when to ask for input 3 Want to continue developing technically while gaining project management and client experience 3 Enjoy helping younger engineers and designers develop Why Join Our Team? Project variety You won't necessarily spend your career designing the same type of subdivision, roadway, or drainage system repeatedly. You'll have opportunities to apply core civil engineering skills to very different facilities and project conditions. Broader technical development You'll have opportunities to grow across grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, earthwork, roads, site development, erosion control, and other civil disciplines rather than becoming narrowly specialized too early. Work with multiple engineering disciplines Civil engineering often sits at the foundation of a project. You will collaborate with structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, water resources, and other specialists to make the overall project work. Room to grow After 5-10 years, we don't expect you to have everything figured out. We do expect you to be ready to take on more responsibility. As you develop, there are opportunities to move toward technical leadership, project management, client leadership, or team leadership. Real-world engineering Our projects aren't limited to producing drawings. You'll have opportunities to participate in field investigations, work through constructability issues, support construction, and see how designs perform in the field.
