Engineer III to join our Public Works team in San Antonio, TX!
This role supports municipal utility and infrastructure projects, with a focus on water, wastewater, sanitary sewer, force mains, and storm drainage systems serving treatment facilities and municipal systems.
Primary Function:The Engineer III will perform detailed engineering design and analysis for public works and municipal infrastructure projects. This position will work closely with Project Managers, senior engineers, designers, and other technical staff through all phases of project delivery.
Primary Duties:- Perform engineering design for water, wastewater, sanitary sewer, force main, storm drainage, and related municipal infrastructure projects
- Prepare plans, profiles, calculations, technical specifications, cost estimates, and other construction documents
- Perform utility design and coordination for public infrastructure projects
- Utilize MicroStation extensively for preparation and development of engineering plans and construction documents
- Assist with hydraulic calculations, utility sizing, drainage analysis, and other engineering calculations
- Support preparation of engineering reports, technical memoranda, studies, and design documentation
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, municipal clients, utility providers, and regulatory agencies
- Review drawings and technical work for accuracy and compliance with applicable standards
- Assist Project Managers with project coordination, schedules, budgets, and client deliverables
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and design staff
- Participate in field investigations, site visits, and construction-phase engineering support as needed
Education and Experience Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 4-6 years of related civil engineering experience, preferably involving public works, municipal utilities, water/wastewater, or similar infrastructure projects
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
- Experience developing engineering plans and construction documents
- Proficiency with MicroStation strongly preferred
- Experience with municipal utility design, including water and wastewater systems, strongly preferred
- Familiarity with SAWS standards, specifications, and design requirements is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams
