Job Description

CDM Smith is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Team in Carlsbad, CA!

Under direct supervision, creates basic complexity engineering designs involving site layout development, site grading and drainage, hydraulics and hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, collection systems, storage tanks and impoundments, foundation designs, stormwater infrastructure and treatment, and occasionally single-story structures.

In this role you can expect to:

• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations, Ensuring that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications and updateing design requirements as necessary.
• Contribute to firm's Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc..
• Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals and may create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Skills & Abilities

Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Good verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 0 years. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Driving Requirements

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
