Full Job Description
Job Description
The Change Control Manager owns how our hardware products are defined, changed, and released, from first prototype through end of life. This role leads the configuration management function and serves as the owner of our product lifecycle management (PLM) system, ensuring that part data, bills of materials, and engineering changes are accurate, controlled, and traceable across every product line. The Manager partners closely with Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality so that teams and manufacturing partners always build from the correct, approved revision. The role also leads a team of configuration management and document control professionals and requires strong judgment to balance speed of change with product integrity.
JOB DUTIES:
Own the configuration management strategy, plan, and procedures across hardware product lines, including part numbering, revision control, lifecycle phases, and BOM structure
Serve as business owner and lead administrator of the PLM system, including item categories, attributes, lifecycle phases, change workflows, routing, and user roles
Maintain the integrity of items, BOMs, approved manufacturer lists, and controlled documents in the PLM system through regular audits and data cleanup
Lead the engineering change process (ECR/ECO and deviations) end to end
Ensure engineering changes include complete impact analysis, such as inventory disposition, cost, effectivity, firmware compatibility, and compliance impact
Partner with Hardware Engineering to embed configuration control early in the product development process
Partner with Program Management on stage-gate release readiness (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP) and launch timelines
Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to release product data to contract manufacturers and confirm builds match the approved configuration
Own integrations and data flows between the PLM system and ERP, CAD/PDM, and quality systems
Support product compliance and quality audits with complete, traceable configuration records, including RoHS and certification data in the PLM system
Lead, coach, and develop a team of configuration management and document control professionals
Establish and report configuration management metrics, such as ECO cycle time, change backlog, and BOM accuracy, to engineering and business leadership
Drive continuous improvement of configuration management processes, training, documentation, and tools
