Case Ready Plant General Manager

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: The Plant General Manager provides overall direction and leadership for all facility and departmental activities associated with the manufacturing, operations, and warehousing products in a safe, profitable, and efficient manner while compliant with company goals and procedures. Ensures that objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements. Delegates authority to Superintendents in production, production control, methods, cost accounting, maintenance, and related operations. Directs all functions involved such as maintenance, manufacturing, production, purchasing, accounting, and administration. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages the facility by directing and coordinating activities that support the company goals, objectives, plans and policies
  • Direct activities designed to achieve the business plan for profit, growth, and competitive advantage
  • Oversees production processes designed for optimal efficiency and output
  • Assure the plant meets productivity and yield standards
  • Aligns resources to produce within budgeted targets
  • Achieve quality standards for all products produced and shipped
  • Accountable for employee safety and environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies; Ensuring all reporting is accurate and current
  • Maintains a safe workplace by implementing safe work practices consistent with company policies
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives to improve product quality, food safety, and lower manufacturing costs
  • Guide maintenance preventive, predictive, and planned programs to optimize asset utilization and asset life
  • Provides technical support and skills to optimize material utilization, formulation, materials, and resources
  • Executes management practices designed to yield a higher return on investments and greater cash flow
  • Develops and executes strategies aligned with best practices and company objectives
  • Utilizes team leadership skills to drive high performance across the organization
  • Responsible for coaching, guiding, and providing employee performance reviews
  • Responsible for plant security and accountable for all assets and materials
  • Compliance with financial controls and reporting policy requirements
  • Provides direction of plant operations for the manufacturing of group products in accordance with process and product specifications and quality standards, complying with contractual and/or customer requirements, and meeting financial objectives
  • Responsible for Plant Financial Performance by facilitating and collaborating with all functions in the preparation of the plant's operating budget
  • Supports positive employee relations in the plant, including with local/national union leadership, if applicable
  • Creates strategies and processes to support growth and improve profitability
  • Ensure SOPs are followed
  • Develop and lead with a sense of urgency
  • Orchestrate activities, assignments, and projects to maintain optimal level of customer service for both internal and external customers
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance OSHA/Safety, FSIS/USDA, EPA/Environmental and HR Compliance
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in a Senior Plant Role with 3+ years in Value Added Case Ready
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Ability to participate with functional counterparts within the organization at the earliest stages of planning/development to meet plant objectives; directing, allocating the plant's resources, timing, etc.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas: procedures, and products; general administrative principles; generally accepted managerial practices and procedures; business principles, customer needs and expectations, and manufacturing operations
  • Thorough knowledge of meat processing, food plant sanitation, HACCP, food safety, and quality
  • Experience managing and leading a diverse workforce with direct and indirect reports
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to be able to navigate through complex and difficult managerial situations
  • Ability to seek out new methods, principles, and changes
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $150,000-$210,000;
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and

The posted salary range represents the Company's good faith estimate of the compensation that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, tenure, internal equity, market data, and may vary accordingly.
