Full Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Capital Sourcing Director will play a critical role in overseeing sourcing for the enterprise capital project portfolio across Roofing, Insulation, and Doors. This role partners closely with business, engineering, project delivery, finance, legal, and plant leadership to develop sourcing strategies that support safe, predictable, and cost-effective execution of capital projects. The position is responsible for leveraging enterprise scale, supplier partnerships, benchmarking, market intelligence, digital tools, and disciplined contract strategies to reduce risk, improve capital efficiency, increase quality, and deliver measurable value across the portfolio. The role also ensures all sourcing activities adhere to the highest ethical standards, consistent with OC's values and business code of conduct.

Reports to: Director, Global Capital Delivery

Span of Control: Span of Control: Accountable for full Capital Sourcing organization - 6 direct reports.

Location: Owens Corning Science & Technology Center in Granville, Ohio

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Sourcing Strategy:
  • Develop and implement enterprise sourcing and contracting strategies for capital equipment, engineering, construction, installation, and related services across a range of contract models, including EPC, EPCM, Design/Build (Split Form), construction management, and specialty trade packages to optimize cost, quality, and performance across capital projects in alignment with the company's objectives.
  • Make data-driven decisions using benchmarking, market intelligence, supplier performance metrics, lifecycle cost analysis, spend analytics, and risk-based prioritization.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, supplier capacity, construction labor markets, equipment lead times, inflation/deflation trends, and other external factors that may impact the capital project portfolio.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to optimize capital cost, reduce execution risk, strengthen supplier resilience, and improve quality while maintaining safety, schedule, and performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to develop and align sourcing strategies with project execution plans and enterprise capital priorities.


Sourcing Tactical Execution:
  • Identify, qualify, and evaluate vendors, contractors, engineering partners, and specialty suppliers through structured due diligence focused on safety, capacity, technical capability, cost competitiveness, quality, schedule performance, financial health, and reliability.
  • Build and maintain strategic vendor relationships, monitor vendor performance through scorecards and business reviews, ensure contract compliance, and drive continuous improvement across the vendor base.
  • Lead complex negotiations to secure favorable commercial terms, scope clarity, delivery commitments, risk allocation, and performance expectations. Oversee contract development, review, administration, and closeout in coordination with Legal and project teams.
  • Partner with project controls, finance, and project leadership to manage sourcing-related budgets, forecasts, savings, cost avoidance, recoveries, and inflation/deflation impacts across the capital portfolio.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual, supplier, schedule, and market risks associated with capital sourcing activities, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, company policies, delegated authority requirements, and sourcing governance.
  • Communicate consistently regarding sourcing results, supplier base performance, market trends, risks, opportunities, and status of key initiatives so business leaders and project teams can make informed decisions and take timely action.
  • Establish, automate, and report sourcing KPIs, including enterprise savings, cost avoidance, supplier health, digital adoption, contract compliance, sourcing cycle time, risk reduction, and supplier-driven innovation.


Team Leadership:
  • Lead the Capital Sourcing team by setting clear priorities, building capability, reinforcing standard work, and creating accountability for enterprise sourcing outcomes.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop sourcing professionals through performance management, individual development planning, succession planning, and targeted skill-building in negotiation, contracting, vendor management, digital tools, and capital project execution.
  • Build an inclusive, high-performing team that strengthens collaboration within Capital Sourcing and across Global Capital Delivery while developing future-ready sourcing capabilities.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field of study.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, engineering, project delivery, construction, operations, finance, or general management, including significant experience with capital projects.
  • Leadership of a global functional organization
  • Experience at creating and implementing strategies at a comprehensive and global level within a corporate environment for capital sourcing.
  • Ability to lead through influence across business units, functions, geographies, and external partners in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to travel 20 - 30%

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Project management experience that drives impact, delivers strong results, and leads change across complex capital project environments.
  • Experience with EPC, EPCM, Design/Build, construction management, specialty trade, and equipment procurement contracting strategies.
  • Exceptional relationship building, interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Track record of delivering cost reduction, cost avoidance, supplier performance improvement, supplier risk mitigation, and quality improvement initiatives across capital equipment and services.
  • Ability to create strategic execution plans for sourcing categories and clearly communicate market insights, supplier strategies, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to senior leadership.
