The Opportunity:

Make a lasting impact on the parks and trails that connect communities across the CVRD. As Capital Projects Coordinator with our Parks & Trails Division, you’ll lead meaningful parks construction projects that enhance public spaces, advance sustainability, and enrich the everyday experiences of residents and visitors alike.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Parks Operations, the Capital Projects Coordinator – Parks & Trails is responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of parks and trails capital projects, ranging from minor capital renovations to major asset replacement. The Capital Projects Coordinator – Parks & Trails also ensures the parks and trails infrastructure adheres to the asset management plan and preventative maintenance standards and operating procedures.

 

In a typical week, you may attend on-site meetings with contractors to review construction progress on a major trail upgrade, collaborate with parks planners and engineers on final project details for the tendering of a new washroom or multi-use trail bridge, and manage project timelines while advancing asset management inventory updates. This dynamic position is ideal for someone looking to advance their career in construction project management within a parks and trails environment.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Landscape Architecture/Design, Civil Engineering, Project and/or Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in landscape/parks related construction management
  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressive in project management, preferably in a local government setting, involving new construction and renovation work, retaining and coordinating applicable professional services inclusive of civil and structural engineering, environmental assessment, geotechnical engineering assessment, architectural and landscape design and coordinating associated regulatory approval processes  
  • Supervisory experience in the area of construction/project management is required
  • Related experience in asset management is preferred
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • First Aid Level 1 with CPR
  • WHMIS Certificate– provided by the employer
  • Project Management Certificate is preferred

Hours of Work

Guaranteed 35 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings.

Salary

Wage rate in 2 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $56.92 - $58.60 per hour (2026 rates). A comprehensive benefits package is provided in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement. In addition, the CVRD offers employees the opportunity to participate in flex time arrangements, supporting flexibility and work-life balance.
