The Business Travel Sales Manager is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing corporate accounts that generate consistent room-night production throughout the year. Through strategic prospecting, thoughtful account management, and a strong understanding of local demand drivers, the Business Travel Sales Manager will build lasting partnerships and position San Francisco Proper as the preferred hotel for discerning business travelers.
Essential Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesDrive Corporate Transient Business- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan focused on growing corporate negotiated and locally sourced business-travel accounts
- Identify new opportunities across key industries and companies with travel demand into San Francisco
- Proactively prospect through phone outreach, email campaigns, networking, referrals, site visits, and in-person appointments
- Negotiate corporate rates and agreements that balance account potential with the hotel's revenue strategy
- Manage the annual request-for-proposal process for assigned corporate accounts
- Partner with Revenue Management to evaluate account production, pricing, availability, and overall value
- Maintain a strong understanding of business-travel patterns, need periods, market compression, and competitive activity
Build and Manage Client Relationships- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned corporate accounts, travel managers, executive assistants, travel advisors, and agency partners
- Develop trusted relationships that generate repeat business, referrals, and increased account share
- Conduct client presentations, entertainment, sales calls, familiarization visits, and hotel tours
- Regularly review account performance and identify opportunities to grow production
- Ensure corporate travelers and account contacts receive responsive, personalized, and highly professional service
- Address client feedback quickly and coordinate with hotel teams to resolve concerns and strengthen the partnership
Expand Proper's Market Presence- Represent San Francisco Proper at industry events, networking functions, trade shows, and local business organizations
- Build relationships within San Francisco's corporate, technology, finance, professional services, healthcare, entertainment, and luxury travel communities
- Monitor new office openings, relocations, major projects, citywide events, and other developments that may generate business-travel demand
- Maintain awareness of competitor positioning, corporate rates, account activity, and emerging market opportunities
- Clearly communicate what makes San Francisco Proper distinct within the luxury and lifestyle hotel landscape
Collaborate Across the Hotel- Work closely with Revenue Management, Reservations, Front Office, Marketing, and hotel leadership to support account needs and maximize revenue
- Participate in weekly sales meetings, strategy discussions, forecasting, and business reviews
- Maintain accurate account profiles, sales activities, production data, and future opportunities within the hotel's sales systems
- Prepare regular reports outlining sales activity, account performance, pipeline development, and market insights
- Support broader sales initiatives and contribute to the overall room-revenue goals of the hotel
- Assist with group or extended-stay opportunities originating from corporate transient relationships when appropriate
Qualifications- Minimum of three years of hotel sales experience, preferably within corporate transient, business travel, or luxury hospitality
- Established knowledge of the San Francisco corporate and business-travel market strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success developing new accounts and growing room-night production
- Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills
- Commercial mindset with the ability to evaluate account potential, pricing, and profitability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple accounts and priorities
- Experience working with hotel sales, CRM, revenue-management, or RFP platforms
- Ability to travel locally and attend occasional evening or industry events
- Genuine enthusiasm for luxury hospitality and creating memorable, highly personalized client experiences
