Job SummaryThe Revenue Cycle Analytics team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Intelligence Analyst Lead to provide advanced business intelligence expertise and lead the execution and delivery of Revenue Cycle analytics initiatives. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining complex BI solutions, including reports, dashboards, data analysis, and analytical tools, while also providing functional leadership in the planning, prioritization, coordination, and delivery of analytics projects.
This individual will serve a key role in translating Revenue Cycle business priorities into actionable analytics solutions and ensuring work progresses from requirements through development, testing, implementation, and completion. The position will coordinate work across Business Intelligence Analysts, Financial Analysts, Revenue Cycle subject matter experts, IT, and other stakeholders to establish priorities, manage timelines, identify dependencies, and proactively address barriers to delivery.
The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of Revenue Cycle, financial, operational, technical, and project execution experience, with demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy. Experience with Revenue Cycle processes and data, including hospital billing (HB), professional billing (PB), charges, payments, adjustments, transactions, accounts receivable, denials, write-offs, and reimbursement is highly desirable.
Experience with Epic Revenue Cycle data and analytical environments such as Clarity and Caboodle is preferred. The position provides an opportunity to serve as a senior technical and functional resource while helping establish scalable analytics practices across Revenue Cycle.
Responsibilities*Business Intelligence Development - Serve as a technical expert in business intelligence and analytics, including report development, SQL/query development, dashboard design, data visualization, validation, and user acceptance testing of developed solutions.
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex Revenue Cycle reports, dashboards, data products, and analytical solutions using appropriate Business Intelligence tools.
- Develop analytical solutions using data from multiple sources, including financial, operational, patient, and Revenue Cycle systems.
- Analyze Revenue Cycle data related to charges, payments, adjustments, transactions, accounts receivable, denials, write-offs, reimbursement, and other financial activity.
- Apply knowledge of Hospital Billing (HB) and Professional Billing (PB) processes to accurately interpret and analyze Revenue Cycle data.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance to ensure analytical solutions accurately reflect source systems and financial results.
- Evaluate existing reporting and analytics to identify opportunities for standardization, automation, simplification, and improved usability.
- Provide advanced technical guidance and support to BI and Financial Analysts on complex reporting and analytical solutions.
Analytics Project Leadership and Execution - Lead assigned Revenue Cycle analytics projects from initiation through requirements, development, testing, implementation, and completion.
- Translate business priorities into defined project scope, deliverables, milestones, responsibilities, and target completion dates.
- Develop and maintain project plans and coordinate resources, activities, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple teams.
- Coordinate work across BI Analysts, Financial Analysts, Revenue Cycle subject matter experts, IT resources, vendors, and operational stakeholders.
- Establish realistic timelines based on scope, complexity, available resources, dependencies, and competing priorities.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify risks, barriers, resource constraints, and potential delays.
- Facilitate project meetings and working sessions and ensure action items have clear ownership and follow-up.
- Escalate issues, resource conflicts, scope changes, and timeline risks in a timely manner.
- Drive projects to completion and ensure deliverables meet defined requirements and quality standards.
- Coordinate testing, validation, implementation, and transition of completed analytical solutions into operational use.
- Provide regular status updates regarding project progress, risks, decisions, and delivery commitments.
Analytics Portfolio Management and Prioritization - Maintain and coordinate a consolidated portfolio of Revenue Cycle analytics projects, requests, and initiatives.
- Partner with Revenue Cycle Analytics leadership to organize and prioritize work based on strategic priorities, operational needs, financial impact, urgency, resource capacity, and established deadlines.
- Assist in evaluating new analytics requests to determine scope, effort, priority, sequencing, and appropriate resources.
- Maintain visibility into workload and capacity across BI and Financial Analysts.
- Identify competing priorities, resource constraints, and dependencies that may affect delivery.
- Monitor work from intake through requirements, development, testing, implementation, and completion.
- Provide recommendations regarding prioritization, sequencing, scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Identify opportunities to improve the flow of work, reduce duplicative reporting, and promote reusable and standardized analytics solutions.
- Support development of a structured and scalable analytics intake and delivery process.
- Provide leadership with clear visibility into project status, upcoming commitments, capacity, and delivery risks.
Revenue Cycle Analytics and Stakeholder Engagement - Partner with Revenue Cycle leaders, Finance, operational departments, IT, and other stakeholders to collect and coordinate business requirements.
- Apply knowledge of Revenue Cycle operations and financial processes to translate business needs into meaningful and reliable analytics.
- Understand and analyze Revenue Cycle processes including charging, billing, payment posting, adjustments, accounts receivable, denials, write-offs, reimbursement, and financial transactions.
- Translate abstract business questions into analytical use cases, requirements, reports, dashboards, and other BI solutions.
- Interview stakeholders to understand requirements for data, reporting, analytics, performance metrics, and data quality.
- Facilitate requirements discussions and help stakeholders clarify objectives, priorities, and expected outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between operational stakeholders and technical resources.
- Provide analytics support for Revenue Cycle performance improvement initiatives, operational leadership, financial analysis, and enterprise initiatives.
Quality, Standards, and Functional Leadership - Promote consistent standards for Revenue Cycle analytics, reporting definitions, data validation, documentation, and quality.
- Provide functional leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to BI and Financial Analysts.
- Conduct or coordinate peer review, testing, reconciliation, and quality assurance of analytical products.
- Develop reusable reporting approaches, documentation, templates, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve analytics processes, reporting standards, productivity, automation, and delivery.
- Stay current with Business Intelligence technologies, Revenue Cycle analytics, Epic capabilities, automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging analytical tools.
- Provide functional leadership on complex analytics initiatives without direct supervisory responsibility.
- Participate in special projects and other duties supporting the strategic and operational objectives of Revenue Cycle Analytics.
Required Qualifications*- Bachelor's degree in a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence, healthcare analytics, Revenue Cycle analytics, financial analytics, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in Business Intelligence, data analytics, financial analytics, healthcare analytics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing complex reports, dashboards, analytical solutions, or data products.
- Proficient use of SQL or alternative relational database querying software to support business needs.
- Advanced knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or comparable technologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects or complex analytical initiatives from requirements through implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and manage project timelines, priorities, deliverables, and dependencies.
- Working knowledge of healthcare Revenue Cycle processes and data.
- Understanding of financial and operational transactions, including charges, payments, adjustments, accounts receivable, and related Revenue Cycle activity.
- Demonstrated proficiency in technical, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and project execution skills.
- Ability to translate abstract concepts and business requirements into technical and analytical solutions.
